Thinking about getting a new aerator for my bx 2360 and was wondering if anyone has used or owns a Land Pride Cat 1 CA 1548 core aerator?Looks like a good built piece of equipment, probably overkill for $$ and using 2 or 3 times a year but would last a lifetime.

I own a lot of landpride implements, their equipment is very well built. Both the landpride ca series & the woods pl series core aerators, are built like battleships and will still be around long after you are gone!

I want one of these also, but it's so hard to justify the purchase price of a new one for a single person's use. Used are hard to find. What we need is a section on TBN where we can effectively share implements like this. Anyone in central Ohio want to split the cost of a new aerator? :)

Does your dealer not rent equipment like this? 2 local dealers in MPLS area rent these which is a far more cost effective. Use it and split the cost with a neighbor or two and you are down to almost nothing. Buy?????

Renting is the way to go if you only plan to use it once a year or so. They are next to impossible to find used. When i jumped up to a 72" from my 60", my 60 was sold in minutes!

I own that model (ca1548), it's great the only problem I have with it, is landpride doen't make weight tanks for it ,I use 4 ,5 gallon water jugs but I find this is not enough weight, if you choose a wider model you will need alot more weight to get penetration due to weight is spread out over a larger area and I bought mine new and i'm only aerating 1 acre so go for it if your going to aerate at least 2 times a year .around here it cost aprox $100.00 each time I have someone aerate the lawn .

I would like to aerate 8 acres. The only dealer that rents them in almost an hour away. It's $150 for 8 hours, and weekend days count as additional days. I found a Woods 60" for sale at $300 but I wasn't quite quick enough. I agree that buying new isn't a good idea financially, but if I could find a used one I would be all over it. I'm pretty sure that a used aerator wouldn't depreciate much. I'll just keep looking.

Some years back I found a used aerator for sale on craigs list. Older model with 8 solid wheels each weigh 96 lbs. 16 spoons attached to each wheel. Even at 800 lbs I have to wait until a couple of days after it rains to get good penetration into the soil. Of course we are going through a drought.

I am in heavy clay soil. Think this thing does a world of good to my yard. You might have to find a length of railroad rail or drill stem pipe to give you the weight you need.

Cheers!
