Hi,

First post here, and I am asking this Q for my neighbor....he has a 27 horse Lamborghini W/ a Mitso motor that is increasingly hard to start in the cold. He has a 50/50 mix of Kero/diesel, and he has tried the ol' glow plug it twice(Or three or fourX) before starting.

It will run fine once it is going and it will start easy if plugged in, but It should start easy at 30 degrees right? My 28 YO Kubota kicks off pretty easy into negative numbers

He has voltage going to the glow plugs, but they have no resistance and they dont feel warm (can you feel if they get warm?) THey are obvously our number one suspect, but this tractor isn't very old and do all three just quit like that? I think the mitso motor is in a few other machines so wondering if anyone had any ideas....HOw hard is it to change these out? JUst like the spark lugs in our pushmowers right?:)

Thanks.

Is that no resistance or no continuity? I'm guessing the latter. It might have been possible for all of them to fail if they were left on while running for an extended period.

i agree with BB... if there is no continuity ( open circuit ). then they are not heating.

Disconnect one and stick a test lamp inbetween the wire and the plug terminal.. glow it.. if no lamp.. then the plug is bad.. or your power feed wire is bad / poor connection..

I've dealt with some diesels that had issues from brand new with the glow plugs going bad. They are just a heater and by their nature should have low resistance. Take the lead off and test from the glow plug terminal to ground, should be a very low reading on your ohmmeter, like 5 ohms or less, maybe lower than 1 ohm. If it was a dead short, you would have a blown fuse.
Does the motor look like the motor in the pic that's in my car?

How did you ever stuff a 12 Cyl lambo engine in your Yugo? It sure looks good, though ;-)

I saw a picture of a Lamborghini tractor someone had in Belgium for his field cutting. Very nice styling. It was 4WD with a flail mower. 35HP.
Where are they sold in the States?

sunspot,

Is that the ROPS police version with that rotating red light on top?
