Lambo 674-70
Hi Guys,

just purchased a Lamborghini 674-70 which had a dodgy alternator. We managed to find a new replacement but, unfortunately, the old one had been disconnected and we cannot figure out which wire goes to which terminal. The two thick wires are obvious but the little ones give no clue as to which goes where.

On a $400 alternator I don't want to take the chance of getting it wrong! Of course we have no wiring diagram or workshop manual and o real way of getting one soon in Australia.

Does anyone have any idea?

Thanks in advance for your help,

kind regards,

Dave

I found a site called Malpas online that shows an alternator for your tractor. In the tech specs they show connection 1 =W, 2=D+,3=B+, if this helps. Totally foreign to me, pardon the pun.

It's certainly a step in the right direction as there is a D+, a B+ and a B- terminal on the back of our new alternator - just got to figure out which colours 1, 2, 3 and 4 are.

I feel as though I am getting warm now so thanks so much for your support, I really appreciate it.

B+ would be battery plus. B-, battery negative. D+ might refer to the Diode pak of the alternator? Check the end connectors shown in the schematics to see which fits or doesn't of the smaller wires. They may be sized internally to the end connector's fitment on the male connectors of the alternator..?

Or post pics of the back of the alternator and the wires on the tractor, and maybe a local alternator guy can help you figure it out. Post the pics here too so we can take a shot at it too.

Thank you DLTTrekkers and CM for your help, that's awesome. It's amazing the knowledge that we gain when working of vehicles, isn't it?

I now know that Giallo is Italian for Yellow, Bianco is White and (I assume) Marr is Maroon. I don't suppose I will ever need this knowledge in the future but, hey, what the heck? :)

I would take some pictures but the tractor is 150 kilometres away in the middle of nowhere and my friend will be standing on the nearest mountain trying to get a phone signal so that I can tell him where to put the wires!

Again, thank you sooooooooo much for your help and support - I really appreciate it.

Dave

what colours are the wires going to the alt ? .....

brown is usually ground , blue is used for the D+ ( exciter circuit ) ... yes the W is the tach signal

connect the big wires , then turn the ignition ON ... check the 2 remaining small wires for 12V to ground ... the 12v one goes to the D+ ... you can leave the other disconnected if you don't care about the tach ...
