for my mom, Ford F250, tailgate = 5th wheel style. i think truck has a 3" or 4" lift on it.

i can reach in and look into bed of truck. at 6 foot arm pits right at or little lower on side of bed, her on other hand 5 foot can barely see over side of truck.
she wants a ladder. or step stool or something.
she can get into back of truck via "bumper" were license plate is. when tail gate is up. but when down. different story.
yet to obtain, a toolbox (that will set up in front of bed) i want to say a cross box? style that sets on top of the sides. so ladder will need to deal with getting into tool box as well.

have already made a "dog ramp"

the bigger Australian Shepard, big chicken, and does not like jumping, had 3 to 4 hour training, before he really took a liking to the ramp.
the smaller one, she just jumps up and down like nothing and "huffs and puffs with a sigh" because she had to get training to, to use the ramp.

she also has a 2 foot by 7 foot sheet of plywood to load/unload a push mower into back of truck for her.

just need a ladder now, to access bed from the sides.
bonus be also climbing ladder to get into bed of truck from sides.
nothing expensive, she willing to just use a cheap little house hold step stool. and toss into back of extended cab.
