I actually got to spend two days at the Minnesota State Fair. Last Thurdsay I went by myself and Sunday I took the family. The day by myself gives me more time to visit the tractor sites.
When I stopped at the JD display I of course immediately noticed the new 4320, 4520 and 4720. After a few minutes of seat time I was approached by one of the dealer reps that works the fair and asked what I thought of the new tractors.
I told him I was impressed and that I had an opportunity to drive both a 4320 and 4720. I asked him when Deere was going to release the new series that will replace the 4210-4410. He told me I was sitting on one. I restated my question trying to make it clear that I was referring to the replacement for the current 4210-4410 tractlors.
He responded by saying those tractors are not being redesigned only the larger ones. He claimed that he had been assured by Deere that no new mid frame tractors were coming. I decided not to pursue the question any furhter.
A few minutes later I could see the man huddling with another dealer rep. He approached me again saying that apparently there was a new series replacing the mid size tractors coming and that the dealers would see it in October. He grumbled something about missing a meeting when this was discussed.
I always amazed at how little some of the dealer reps know about their own product. A few minutes later I was looking at three point pto powered stump grinder at a different display. I asked if he had a model that would fit a 35 pto horsepower categoery 1 tractor. He directed me over to a massive unit that was least a category 2 maybe 3 unit. He said it weighted about 2500# but my tractor should handle it.
I'm convinced we learn more from the TBN site that talking directly with some of these dealer reps.
