This evening I was rooting out some brush with my grapple when something went "POP" in my loader, now I do not have any curl power, I can curl down and I have power and it holds but when I curl back all goes limp and I have no power back.
I think I damaged something in the cylinders, any ideas ???

Sounds like a blown hose or fitting to me.

Is it spewing any oil from any of the connections??

Which way does your cylinder work? When going down is the cylinder going in or out? At the end of the chrome rod you can see is a piston that's bolted to the rod. I had the bolt loosen up and fall out. I could extend the cylinder since the piston pushes against the rod but couldn't retract it.

LD1,
nothing visible, nothing broke, no leaks.

crazyAL,
the cylinder will push out but will not retract, could be that I broke both bolts in the end of the cylinders, something went "POP" when I lost the ability to retract so I suspect I will need to tear the cylinders down.

Thanks!

I think if only one is bad then since they are in parallel the other will not get any power since the hydro fluid will just flow through the hole in the loose piston. In my case the bolt just loosened up and I just took the cylinder apart and put a few drops of lock tite on it, replaced the seals and put it back together. It was only a single cylinder.

I guess you could pull the pin so the rod end of the cylinder is free. You should be able to feel the piston pushing oil on the good one while the bad one will move with little resistance.

Thanks Al,

That makes sense, It would be very unlikely to break both at the same time.

I'll remove and plug the lines on each cylinder to determine which one I need to repair.
