Have been thinking of a 4n1 bucket on a LA723 FEL, but a dealer thought it's weight would take away too much lifting capacity. Another option was to install an ATI Grapple (?) thumb to the HD bucket. Looks like a good option, has anyone had any experience with this type setup? Price for the "Thumb" was around $500.

I have the ATI grapple on the LA723 w/66" HD bucket. Works well. NOTE: if you are thinking of getting the Markham Welding toothbar, don't get the bolt-on cutting edge. They won't work together and the bucket edge is heavy enough for most work. There is a width limit for the ATI grapple. The papers I have says that it is for buckets up to 66" but I think that it will fit 72". I will measure mine tomorrow.

Don't forget adding a remote valve. I got 3 on my L3130 and glad I did.

Thanks for the comments. The quote I received included a 4 position Joystick Control Valve. Does this refer to the number of Remote valves? I don't know much about this valve business.

The joystick is for the loader controls. Rear remote levers are fender mounted. Here is what you need to order from your dealer to put one rear remote on your L-3130 tractor.

L8305 base kit $400
L8303 valve $200

If you want to add a second and/or third remote you buy these.

L8306 second position stacking kit $200
L8303 valve $200

L8307 third position stacking kit $200
L8303 valve $200

These are dealer installed options. Installation is not included in the prices but the dealer should do it for free on initial order.

Mad, I am about to order a Grand L with top and tilt, so I am assuming that the dealer will include the base kit, second stacking kit and two of the valve units. To start, I am not buying anything else that requires hydraulics (other than the loader), but who knows about the future. Someday, if I purchase something for occasional use that requires hydraulic control, I have been assuming that I can temporarily reroute either the top or tilt remote by simply having the right hoses and brakets made up. I will lose the ability to use the top or tilt while I use the other hydraulically operated attachment, but I have been thinking that the chances are probably slim that I will need to use both at the same time anyway.

Am I thinking wrong here when an additional $400 at the time of purchase will net me a third remote that will be ready if and when I need it someday? I am usually hesitant to spend on something that I am not sure I will ever use, but maybe the likelihood that I will encounter a use for a third remote is greater than I think. This is my first tractor, so I have no way of knowing how useful a third remote might ultimately be.

The list price for the Top and Tilt kit (just the cylinders) is $700 and its whole goods part number is L8326. It does NOT include the 2 rear remotes but your dealer should be smart enough to include the 2 remotes as per the option designations in my previous post. I would check with him to make sure. It's also the dealers responsibility to include the hoses for the cylinders and you will probably get charged for them.

The hoses for the TNT will have QD's on them so they can easily be unplugged from the remotes.

Adding a third remote is simply installing the 3rd remote stacking kit and valve as listed previously. Takes a couple of hours. If you can afford it why not add it now and save the labor expense you will incur at a later date. The third remote has many uses including hydraulic chute rotator for a snowblower (does it snow in CA?) or hydraulic angle for a back blade, etc. If you have it you will find a use for it, guaranteed.

Everybody:

If you think you will be using remotes for future inpliments get them with the tractor. The dealer can do it during the make ready. On my L3130 the dealer removed the right wheel and fender to make access easier. I had all 3 remotes added during the purchase at a cost of $1325. I have posted previously explaining my setup.

I took a good look at my setup and saw that the ATI grapple kit will not fit buckets wider than 66" as I had planned. I have the quick attach on my LA723 so getting the 66" HD bucket was no problem for the dealer.
