Working on setting up a b3030. Will be including a la403 loader. Two bucket sizes are being offered, 54" and 60". What are the major differences aside from 6"? I have heard the 60" one referred to as light duty. Is it made of lighter steel than the 54"? Any help greatly appreciated.

Just took delivery of a new B3030 in late December. I only have several hours and this is my first tractor ever. I looked at both buckets when I purchased and both seem to be of the same construction. I was more inclined to go with the 54 inch, however the salesman talked me into the 60 in. He said he would take it back if I was not satisfied since he had confidence it was the right one for my property. He was right! The 60in bucket matches perfect with my 60in box blade and 60in rotary mower. When I mow, I use the width of the bucket as guide against the fence line when looking forward. Which means I don't have to keep looking backwards all the time. I don't have many obstacles to manuver around so it works great for my property. Like I said, I'm new to this stuff! Your gonna luv the B3030. I made my decision after absorbing all the information from this site. Great bunch of helpful & knowledgeable people here.:)

Unless I had the narrowest set up I prefer to sell the 60" one over the 54". We have had no trouble with them and when using them have found no problems when properly ballasted.

Thanks, I'm leaning toward the 60". Does $475 sound right for tooth edge installed on the bucket?

I have the B3030 with the 60 inch bucket and I have had no problems with it. I definately recommend the wider bucket. The B3030 can lift a full 60" bucket full of wet dirt or gravel with no problem. Just make sure you have proper ballast. I have rimguard loaded rear tires and a weight box on mine.

I purchased an ATI toothbar last year and I think it was around $375 but I installed it myself. It is a very nice and well made product.

I also got a quote from Markham and their toothbar was around $250 or so. Your quote sounds a little high but then again it probably includes some dealer labor $$.

There are different types!!!!! There are some that have NO removable points for when they get worn. I don't get to see that unless used commercial but they might. There are the better ones that the teeth or points can be replaced by driving out a pin!

I also have the 60" bucket -- that's what my dealer puts on all his B3030's by default. Don't have a lot of time on my tractor yet, but so far it seems to work fine.

When I asked my dealer about bucket sizes, he said that he orders all his B3030's with the 60" bucket. I didn't pursue it any further with him -- just assumed it was for a good reason. Like GRADY said -- the 60" loader matches up well with all the 60" 3pt implements. That makes a lot of sense.

When I purchased my tractor(B7800 LA402), I was told that the 54" bucket was less prone to "bend" at the cutting edge, So I went with it. I am not a physics expert, but it made sense, the less distance the less chance of bending the cutting blade. I have not had a problem with the 54" bucket, but I sometimes wish I had the bucket capacity of the 60" bucket.

Unless you plan on serious digging with the fel, you probably would be better
off getting the 60" bucket.
