Thanks! I'll double check mine, mower good for a short time after setting valves.Armature air gap . . . 0.008 0.012 in. (0.20 0.30 mm)
Spark plug gap . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 0.030 in. (0.76 mm)
Valve clearance with valve springs installed and piston 1/4 in.
(6 mm) past top dead center (check when engine is cold).
See Repair Manual P/N 273521.
Intake . . . . . . . . . . . . . 0.004 0.006 in. (0.10 0.15 mm)
Exhaust . . . . . . . . . . . 0.004 0.006 in. (0.10 0.15 mm)
This is for all 440000/400000 series...
Am I looking for the intake valve to open then complete? Im not doing something right. GrrI would guess that you have identified the exhaust valve as the intake ? Intake valves are on the top. Once the valve opens complete the cycle and use a dowel to identify TDC and continue 1/4" past. Then set them .004 intake and .006 exhaust on that cylinder. Repeat that whole process on the other side. Button it up and done. Before starting make sure the rocker bolts are secure and that all 4 valve guides protrude relatively the same distance from the head. Google an Intek twin manual should you need it. Some older manuals will give different specs. .004/ .006 are current. .003/ .005 acceptable.
