After replacing the secondary belt for my 44 inch "snow thrower"
and not having the drive belt in my possession-on order due any day etc.
I decided that I wanted to check the drive belt from the engine
to the transmission:smiley_aafz::mur::muttering::hissyfit:
Its bad and the rubber is degrading.....................
Enough said; everything looked easy, the belt was going to
come off easy from the transmission cooling fan pulley and
the tensioner pulley was going to be an easy to remove item
and the snubber pulley was not going to give me any problems;
Drum roll please;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;.
The steering column has to be removed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have any of you done the repair? I have very basic hand tools.
Using both metric and SAE wrenches on the snow blower was a
time consuming chore for sure.
I was not up for doing today that as there is plastic shaft guide for
the steering column centering the shaft and the end gear through the
upper plate that secures the rack.
Is the rack supposed to be loose? the bolt holding the rack is secure
anyway and there is quite a lot of play in it. Is it that way to make the
steering easier?
I guess I will let it go. When it craps out I hope I can back the
dump trailer up to where it died to load it.
I have to order another pair of magnetic marker lights for the tractor
and dig out the SMV sign for the seat out of my rolling truck tool box.
