in general the number following "LA" is the kilogram limit of the loader i believe 24" from the pivot pins. so converted to lbs, that would be finding a loader with an approx 2090 lb limit. having said that, aftermarket ones may vary on that. i think Quickie is a well respected aftermarket loader. there are lots of options you can pursue. just keep in mind your hyd gal flow per min on your particular model. sorry can help in more detail....
btw that weight limit could be @ center of bucket, am sure someone will correct me
The L4850 was offered in the early 1990's but was replaced by later models in 1997 or thereabouts. Doubtful it's still available from the factory and it's unlikely anyone still has a brand new LA950 that's been taking up space for 20 years in their parts department, although stranger things have happened to be sure.
You might also search for an LA1150, which was for the L5450. Although it had a slightly larger engine, the 4850 and 5450 were very close in other respects and the 1150 loader might be made to fit an L4850. There is a TBN member who is knowledgeable concerning this line of Kubota equipment who might have additional comments.
The alternative would be an aftermarket loader as big bubba mentioned.
Original Kub loaders that will fit the L4850 include BF900, LA950, BF1100, and LA1150. The BF1100 and LA1150 have slightly larger cylinders, matched to the L5450 tractor's larger hydraulic pump. They would work fine on the L4850, just slightly longer full-stroke time.

When I was looking for a loader for my L345 there was one on eBay belonging to a Kub dealer in NJ who also sold large commercial grounds care equipment. The 20-year-old loader was sitting on a high shelf in a huge warehouse, never uncrated, simply stored there for years while the business fried bigger fish.
It's likely that a loader for jms13's L4850 exists somewhere. The trick will be finding it.
Thanks guys for the advise. Spoke the gentleman in regards to the tractor. It is no longer for sale. It is his dad's tractor and he decided to just keep it. Bummer. Was asking $12,000 for it. Has around 2000hrs. excellent looking machine.
Stilling kicking myself for not buying the l4150 that I found a few months ago. Oh well the search continues..
Thanks again for the replies.
