Multiple Fords and Kubotas
I'm working on a deal with my local Kubota dealer for an L6060 ROPS (cannot use cab tractors for multiple reasons) CUT.

My local dealer has priced an L6060 ROPS with R4 tires, LA1055 FEL, Kubota 60" (don't want a 72") 4 in 1 bucket, third function valve, single lever hydraulic manifold for both FEL and third function valve, 2 float detent rear remote valves, 2 sets or rear weights (4 weights), front weight bracket with 10 weights, and rear work light at $44,875.

This sounds about $2,000 high to me.

What say you folks?

That is a little high if it's before tax. You need to shop around.

Thanks, Dingo. The quote is before tax.

Unfortunately, time is of the essense for multiple reasons and I must close this deal within about two weeks or wait until spring. Of course, if I wait until spring, I am exposed to price increases, which I expect. JD just increased the price of their competitive 4066R by 4%.

I bought the 6060 this morning.

My dealer sweetened the deal a bit by including a full set of filters for the first service (I do nearly all of my own work aside from warranty work.)and changing from the 60" 4-in-one bucket that I had specified to save weight to a 72" version for the same cost. Turns out, the 60" version is not compatible with the LA1055 loader used on the 6060 and we had not caught that until he tried to order it. The quote was also reduced a bit by changing from 10 to 7 front weights. It turns out that the weight carrier accepts a maximum of 7 weights and the quote included 10.

I'm willing to pay a bit above the lowest internet deal in order to buy locally. MY CNH/Kubota dealer is only 4 miles from my place and they have treated me well.

In the last month, I bought two new Kubotas to replace two Massey Fergusons. Unlike my CNH/Kubota dealer, neither MF nor my MF dealer has treated me well. Indeed, both have treated me very badly.

An M9960HDC12 ROPS was delivered about a month ago to replace the larger 2012 MF. The L6060HDC ROPS will be delivered around the end of December (I'm in no hurry.) to replace the smaller 2007 MF. Though the MF issues have been more the fault of MF/AGCO and their dealer than the machines, I'm glad that the MFs are out of my barn. I want nothing more to do with MF/AGCO and their local dealer.

Congratulations on your new L6060, out local AGCO has kept us away from MF also.

Thanks, TripleR.

I bent over backward trying to work with MF and my dealer because there are some features of the old tech MF tractors that I bought that I liked, e.g., long stroke, relatively low RPM Perkins engines. Unfortunately, after sale service just went from bad to worse so I eventually cut my losses.

Replacing two relaively new tractors (475 and 113 hours) was a costly experience but I expect to be both money and time ahead in the long run.

I was well aware that MF was not Kubota when I bought both MF tractors but did so because they speced out better on paper (heavier and lower RPM to produce rated HP) and were less expensive. I'm old school and not a fan of modern higher RPM turbocharged tractor engines (A mid 60s vintage hot rodder with a good memory, I well remember the old addage: There is no replacement for displacement.) so the old tech MF designs appealed to me. Sadly, the treatment I received by both MF and their dealers (2) forced me to throw in the towell on this experiment.

FWIW: I have a Kubota B1750HSD, bought new in 1994. I have no idea how good Kubota's warranty is because I've never used it. The B1750 has been absolutely trouble free in the 21+ years that I have owned it. No rouble at all. Nothing. Not so much as a fuse, fan belt or lamp bulb. Nothing but routine lube oil and filter changes.

My father in law bought our MF 375 MFWD with FEL new in about 1985-86 from the the dealership that is now AGCO, we love the power train, Perkins engine is smooth as silk and powerful, but we never could get the dealer to handle warranty issues or make repairs correctly, so no more MF for us either. It took us a while to get use to the Kubota high reving engines and light weight, but overall have learned to like them and sure appreciate their reliability and the dealer is great.
