I went to my dealer and picked up the materials to do the service. I guess I wasn't prepared for the $330 price tag that went with it!!
I did get synthetic motor oil and the super UDT tranny/hydraulic oil. I was kind of taken back a bit with the $65 hydraulic spin on filter, but then again with the heavy construction for the pressure and the magnet I guess I somewhat see it. Everything went very well and was pretty straight forward. I was pretty surprised at the amount of shavings stuck to the magnet, I guess that is doing its job well. I was also surprised that they (Kubota) recommend UDT in the front axle. I see gear oil is also allowed too but found it odd that UDT would be just as good, but since they recommended it, it is in there. I found it much easier than a regular oil change on a vehicle as you don't have to lift it up. I did take the front loader off and I would do that again as it made working around it easier and safer. I have done my own maintenance on my equipment and vehicles for as long as I can remember. For the novice mechanic this would be very easy to acomplish as long as you have (3) 5 gallon pails to catch the fluid (not necessary but easier that way anyway). On to 100 hours we go.
On another note, the rear remote parts are in (5 days early) and my dealer is picking up the tractor to install them Thursday. Now I will be able to try my Split Fire wood splitter. I have all my wood cut for the winter (8 cord, 24 face cord) now I can split the left over big chunks then on to next years supply or a portion anyway.
