Tractor
Kubota B3030
Went tractor shopping with a friend yesterday and he looked at a new L5030. With a Kubota BH and a Kubota FEL on it..and rear remote HYD's...the dealer gave him a "first go-round" price of 35K.?? On the way home..he told me that was "outragious"..??

Is it?..I sure dont know??? But when I questioned him..he aid the last NEW tractor he had bought..was a 70 HP International ( model..??) that came std with rear remotes and that was it..for a little over 17K THEN??

Can anyone give me an idea of whether this is even in the ballpark or not?..I sure dont know..

The MN tractor-equipment location lists the list price for a Kubota L5030 Hst with R4 Ind. Tires at $26,060.00.

Contract Specifications - {contract item}

Add the FEL, Backhoe, Taxes, Freight, Dealer Prep and remotes, etc. $35,000.00 sounds about right.

I purchased one of the One in Five Hundred Fords (Ford had to make and sell 500 so they could use the engine in race cars) in 1969 for $3,500.00. The 429 cubic inch Super Boss Cobra Jet would pass anything but a gas station. I had some interesting comments from service station personnel in central Flordia when I would stop for gasoline, which was very often at Amoco stations. (Would spark knock on other brand name) The gas crisis in 1974 got me back on the sane horsepower pathway. The last car I purchased, American made cost $53,000.00. Quite a price increase. Tractors are like cars. They go up in price. My father in law (deceased) purchased a Ford tractor for $1,900.00 (thought he was robbed)when he was farming. He used the tractor for 20-25 years in a farm environment. We sold the tractor at his estate auction for $3,500.00. So if the last tractor your friend priced and purchased was an Int. he may very well be floored by, "Sticker Prices".

Okie doke! I didnt think it was too far off the mark..as this was the same salesman that sold me my B3030 13 months ago and ( I was able to find out from another source) gave me one HE** of a deal on mine.

I totally understand the cost increase on ANYTHING over a 20 year period of time. Dont seem possible does it...but its a fact.

Thanks much

Did it have a cab? $35k seems a little high for an open station L5030 with backhoe but not much.

No...no cab. And it was a "first round" price. Im sure the salesman will come down SOME amount ( he most certainly did on my B3030 last year) but how much I have no idea.

I dont think my friend is going to jump on it at all..because IMHO..he thinks the Chinese tractor he presently has is worth a LOT MORE than than it really is....and he doesnt have a firm grasp on what NEW stuff is costing. A BAD combo!

It appears that this deal..should he do it ( and he really does need a larger tractor than what he presently has) is going to cost him a LOT MORE over all...than if he would just have bit the bullet in the beginning...instead of buying the Jinma for not much $$ and now after 4 years wanting to "trade up".

I sort of got the impression the dealership dont even want his used tractor..AT ALL!

35,000 sounds about right. I had the same tractor, loader, and backhoe delivered last week with R1 tires and no remotes for 33.500.

The backhoe portion of that $35k is almost 25% of the total price. Those backhoes run around $8k for that size machine. IMO unless you are doing a lot of big time backhoe work, you would almost be better off buying a smaller used 30 hp machine with a backhoe for somewhere in the $10 - $12k range and using it for backhoe work. It's not going to take down 100' trees or dig 10' holes in the ground but it will work for 90% of the things I can think that I would need a backhoe for.

with a new tractor purchase the BH90 should only cost $6500-6700
