I purchased a set of Titan Attachment pallet forks for use on my Grand L4740, which has the L854 loader with a quick-attach bucket. I purchased the tractor and loader new in 2008, and I've used the loader quite a bit with the OEM Kubota bucket, which attaches quite securely. I've never had any problems with the attachment of the bucket, but I've also never used any other QA loader attachment until now.

I attached the new pallet fork frame for the first time this morning, and I have a few concerns:
  • minor concern -- there is about 3/4" of extra width on the frame vs the outer edges of plates on the tractor. This means that the frame could slide a bit left to right. This is probably not a big deal, since there shouldn't be much left-to-right force when using the forks.
  • bigger concern -- the quick attach pins are fully extended (levers all the way down), but are not pressed down hard against the slots in the frame. In other words, the pins need to go a bit further (maybe another 1/8" - 3/16" ). As the result of this the tops of the loader plates have some play.
Is there a way to adjust how far the pins go down? Once they make contact, I think they are spring-loaded. If it's possible to adjust them further down, presumably they'll be even tighter with the bucket (since they're already good and tight with the springs compressed, when the bucket is installed).

The photo is of the right side, which is worse than the left (though both sides need adjusting).

Thanks!

Jeff

Titan Attachment can be quite sloppy on the frame build. I had to add 1/4" spacer on the top of my bale spear frame get mounted the way wanted (level). I know some have added spacers on the bottom lip to tighten things up. If you have free space between to bottom off of the tractor SSQA and the frame when the top is FULLY in the upper part of the frame some kind of spacer maybe advised.
I just welded some 1/4" plate steel under the upper angle to take slop out and make the frame sit level.

weld a shim on the forks.

Yep - most likely poorly made mount on the forks - out of spec or near the edge. Adding a shim is probably the easiest way as Peter showed. I had to do that on my grapple, but had another issue at the top that was allowing it to pop off too easily under certain loading conditions due to the way it was built and how it interacted with the Kubota loader hooks which I had to fix separately. Here is my old thread on that, if you are curious:

Its really only gonna be an issue if you trybackdragging with the forks....or pulling with the forks (like a trailer ball on the end of one fork).

But used as designed....with just lifting, or even pushing, you shouldnt have any issues
