Hey folks, I've got a 2017 Kubota L4701 with 650 hours on it that has sprung a leak in a fuel line running from the filter to the engine (see pic). For the short and sweet, I'm wanting to know if you can tell me what exactly this line would be called at the parts counter, and what special precautions, if any, do I need to take (e.g., air in the system, etc.) Also, if they don't have the entire line with crimped ends, is it acceptable/possible to splice it? Finally, could you spare me a quick run down of the process, and especially any thing that I want to definitely NOT do, if any exist? Or is it just as simple as take the old off, ensure cleanliness, and put the new on? I'm OCD as it is, and I hate not knowing details about even a minor repair before I do it, but as you all know, this time of the year is 90-to-nothin' and time for extracurricular activity is limited! (Time ain't any good if the repair leads to failure though!)
That's the meat of my post, but for the au jus lovers asking how and why, unbeknownst to my helper, the plastic, perforated side cowling came out of a detent and within a few hours the rattling/rubbing on the fuel line caused it to spring a leak. (We managed to put some fuel tank epoxy on it in order to limp it to the trailer without making an even bigger mess, and so that's what the white glob is.)
It's a good little clip to get to my dealership, and before I call to make sure they have it in stock (Not taking any chances!), I wanted to ask the experts on what exactly is this section of line called? I've had it happen before where the parts counter thought I meant one thing, but it was actually something else and I left going home empty handed. To be fair though, it has happened with more complicated, possibly redundant items, but still, it sucks to drive 45 min one way for nothing.
Most importantly, if they don't have it, I'll have to go to plan b, c, etc., and I want to get the details and specs on it so if I go searching far and wide I get the right item. Gotta love living in the middle of nowhere!
I appreciate any help you can afford me!
