Can't find my service manual. Anyone know the engine oil capacity? Also Wix oil filter number please? I've got a napa gold 1085 left over from my last kubota, not sure it'll fit.Dealer's closed til Monday.

Wix.com will give you the filter number right there on line.
Oil capacity. Simple. Put in 3 quarts, then add one pint at a time and check. One doesn't need to know the amount. Just keep filling until it appears on the stick. Slowly add small amounts until full.
well. I put the napa gold 1085 on, and nearly 2 gallons of mobil 1 5/40 diesel truck oil. So far no leaks, I wish I knew for sure that's the right filter. edit I just wanted to be sure I bought enough oil. My l4200 only held 6 qts, glad they had the mobil 1 gallons on sale at oreilly. Thanks for the wix info, didn't know they'd have kubota listed. I'll check now'
wix site wouldn't give oil filter number, but napa did(weird since the same filters). The napa site said filter 1311. Both the napa 1311 and the 1085 cross ref to ac delco pf 13 though, so i guess i'm ok. the 1311 also crosses to the delco pf 2140. Any reason to switch filter?
I looked up the correct oil filter information using Messick's web site to obtain the Kubota P/N and then used this to cross reference the Wix Number.
The Wix number that best matches is P/N 51307. 51805 is very close and should work. Take a closer look at the second attachment and notice the Beta ratios between the two. It looks like 51307 is a bit better.
If it was mine, I'd use the 51805 and during the oil change go with the 51307.
Hope this helps and please double check the P/N's.
moship, now I'm even more confused, lol. If you cross reference the Kubota part number, you get a different filter than if you look up the part by application.(ie 51307 vs 51311). I bet the differences in all these filters is minimal. I can't find specs on the napa gold 1085.
thanks
Tom
edit, I just saw that you posted specs on the 1085. It actually looks like the 1085 specs better, or am I reading it wrong?
Yes it is crazy how many filters will fit and work with this engine and there is little difference between them. If there is room for a longer filter there are probably another 20 p/n's that will work. (The 20 p/n's is only a guess on my part to make a point.) Does anyone know how to search Wix P/N's by thread size and gasket dimensions?
The NAPA gold filter is the Wix 51085. Napa Gold is made by Wix and uses the same general numbering system but drop the first digit. 1085 = 51085.
All three filters are very close and are very similar in dimension. The best filtering is the 51307 as it has the best Beta ratios. All the other specs are generally the same between the three. See attachment for specifications for all three.
Beta Ratio: 2/20=7/18 means Filter 50% of 7 micron size particles and 95% of 18 micron size particles. (Beta ration 2/20 means efficiency of 50% and 95%).
According to Coleman Equipment the oil capacity is 8.7 quarts. It looks like 2 gallons is not be enough.
yeah, I was looking at the ratios wrong. Thanks for the lesson(seriously). I don't really understand why they make all these filters to different specs. Do the filters with better filtration need to be changed more often? I added the rest of the 2nd gallon last night and I'm full on the stick, but tilted to that side a little. I'll just run the 1085 till next oil change(next spring). I'll go get some more mobil 1 at oreilly, 20 bucks a gallon on sale for full synthetic vs 13 /gallon for rotella dino. Not trying to start an oil discussion at all, that's like politics.
