Anyone have an L4560 kubota backhoe? They fit the bigger L series and claim to have some sort of frame mount.

Peter, from the brochure I have I can tell you it's a 9' hoe, bucket cylinder force of 4920 (vs. 2950 for the BL4690), and dipperstick cylinder force of 2430 (v. 1740). If you're dreaming, I recommend you dream about a Bradco 509 or 609.

I'll add my 2 cents worth to Glenn's post. From what I've seen, Bradco makes very well-designed and executed backhoes. They have specialized in backoes for years. And they have really done their homework in marrying their hoes to Kubota tractors. Their subframes don't waste an inch of space anywhere, their hoes attach and detach easily, and their subframes have good ground clearance.

If you look closely at Kubota's brochures in the early '90's, their commercial-duty units (prior to L35's) were shown and supplied with Bradco backhoes. Ask any dealer who's been around a while -Bradco gets very high marks.

Bradco went through some business changes - now a division of Attachment Technologies - and Kubota brought small backhoe manufacture inside with the L21 L35 and L48. Maybe someone (Steve Carver?) on this board knows whether Kubota still buys Bradco components for the L21,35,48 hoes.

Hope this is useful info. Have fun - dig holes.

Hey Glenn - is it possible the Kubota L4560 is really a re-labled Bradco 9HD? The digging and dipper forces are very similar. What is the date on your brochure? I may be way off base - but in my Kubota brochure 3086-01 ('92) they show a Bradco in one place and a Kubota hoe in another, and refer to 2 different Kubota model numbers, L4540A and L5412. If you look very closely, the Bradco hoe carries decals "Kubota" and "L5412".

Is the L4560 in this same series ?

Hey Hayden, is this L4560 a new unit you're looking at?

I know almost nothing about the L4560 other than what's in the 3x10/4x10 tractor brochure.

Have you been able to see one of the Bradco's up close? Do youhave to rip apart the 3PH to mount the hoe?

Peter, yes, I have. I have seen the 408, 509 and 609 mounted on Grand L's. Climbed on them and even operated the controls. Both of the Kubota dealers I talk to here consider them to be the best hoes for the Grand L's.

They have what I would call a four point mount. Two braces are permanently installed over the axles, so there is no subframe attached to the hoe. The braces have slots in them where they protrude from the rear. To mount the hoe you manuever pins on the hoe into the slots. There are two similar mounting points by the upper lift arms. You dont have to remove the lower arms; just fold them out of the way.

The hoes mount very close to the tractor. On one of them the hoe seat was literally on the other side of the ROPS bumping into the tractor seat, which had to be folded forward.
I think there is some sort of spacer that allows you to move the hoe further away. In contrast, Woods hoes seem to protrude way out the back on L's, too far in my view.

The Bradcos have much stronger digging specs than anything else, and are run off the tractor hydraulics. The side to side boom movement is via pistons, not via chain drive like the Kubotas and Woods. And the pistons are mounted up high, away from the dirt. There is also some sort of swing control that dampens the swing movements. They have a website.

I looked at a 409 today. Very nice. Looks like a viable way to get frame mount without the hassles of the woods mount. Not having to take apart the 3PH is a double bonus.

This dream's getting better and better all the time.

Glenmac:
Bradco does make an optional pto driven hydraulic unit that requires the 3pt lift arms to be removed because the hydraulic oil tank fits where the lift arms would be. I have a Bradco model 611 on my L3710 but it is not recommended by the manufacturer due to its power but I tend to use it carefully. If I use the 24" bucket in hard clay it tends to drag the tractor around but then again I rarely use the big bucket for hard digging. The swing control on my 611 is variable speed to reduce the jarring from the boom. The 4pt mount is very rigid and feels like it was made to be mounted permanently on the tractor. I modified the seat bracket slightly so it would clear the Kubota tool box. (Bradco sends a bracket to replace the tool box.) The backhoe seat will hit the tractor seat which is either flipped forward or just pushed slightly forward. Bradco does make a optional extension kit for mounting the hoe to clear the tool box and tractor seat. Since my hoe is already big for my tractor it is best to keep the hoe mounted as close as possible to the tractor to reduce stresses. The 611 model weighs about 1835lbs with 12" bucket. The hydraulic cylinders seem massive - would love to have them on the loader.

Hayden, I have a Bradco 408 mounted on my JD970. For this installation they used the same frame mount JD used for their OEM hoe. Bottom line, all of the mounting hardware is JD and only the hoe is Bradco. Would not be surprise me if Bradco does the same with other tractor makes.
You can not go wrong with a Bradco hoe. You pay a little more, but it is worth it.

hope the dream goes real for you,
george
