L4240HST OPINIONS

I have finally made up my mind, I,m going to buy a L4240HST. I started looking at a L3540HST, but I like the L4240, 4 cylinder engine. It's hard to pick a model, there are so many! I wanted to know if the L4240HST owners out there are happy with there tractors?

I can't answer your question YET but will soon have my 4240. Mine has the cab. Ordered it with the third function valve. Two rear remotes. LA854 loader and Kubota snowblower. It has the outer lighting front and rear and although I haven't seen any pictures online the one I'm getting has front fenders. I'm just using mine for snow removal. I'm adapting my snow blade to the loader as well. I'll let you know in the spring if I like mine I'll have mine mid week.

I've got one and love it. Put a little over 100 hours on it since last fall. Pulls a 6' Bushhog over some fairly steep ground and plenty of power doing other things.

It has the cab with front and rear lights, 854 FEL, front and rear wipers, and top and tilt.

Started with a NH 1720 years ago, went to a Kubota 3230 and put over 400 hours on it, decided I needed more power and got a Kubota 5240 GST. Kept it less than a month. More power than I needed and realized how nice the cab would be. Decided on the 4240 HSTC.

Still haven't regretted that decision.

Thanks for the info. I considered getting a L5240HST, but reconsidered and decided on a L4240HST. The dealer also said delivery on a L5240 was 3 months, the L4240HST is one week. He said the L4240 is a very popular model.

I purchased mine last December. I have about 80 hours on it now. The land I use it on is rolling hills, wooded with some old open area now over grown. I have used the loader to clear and gravel an area for my camper, home away from home. I purchase a Bush Hog rotary cutter to use on the over grown areas which the tractor handles without issue. I also have the BH90 backhoe which has really come in handy. I have created a creek crossing, used it to help level area for storage building etc.
I originally was looking at the 3400 and was stand offish of the HST. I had only operated an 8N and a MF 135, both geared tractors. I tested the 3400 and then made the mistake of sitting on and driving a L3540. After reading this forum I decided on the 4240 for the larger FEL. The HST has been great for the FEL work and getting around in the Wooded areas. The bells and whistles of the Grand L have been great. The auto throttle allows the tractor to idle but rev up when you put it to use. It is amazing the amount of work you can do with this unit. I would do it again.

I'm one step below in the L3940.
I love this machine but wish I had a bit more power. If I had to do it again I'd go with the 5240 mostly for the larger FEL and more PTO hp for my chipper.

I bought a L3240hst in June, I really enjoy this tractor, but almost wish I would have gone with a bigger machine like the L4240.
You're going to enjoy the L4240hst if you purchase one.

Like others have said, the added hp comes in handy. I have the 3240HST, the ONLY downside is that it can be under powered for the size of the machine. Good Luck
