hello
new to this, i currently have a b3030,and am looking to go up to an L3830,the simple question i have is, i have gotton mixed answers on wether or not you can run R-4 tires with a 72' mid mount mover. does anyone have this set up ? or does anybody know the answer to this?

Hi 3030; yes, you can use R4 tires. Keep the following in mind concerning mowing: 1) using 4wd tends to chew up the grass when turning; so keep it in 2wd. 2) If ALL your work will be mowing, or if the lawn is beautiful and perfectly manicured, turf tires would be worth the investment. Otherwise, R4's are fine because you need the traction on your other work. 3) for mowing, weight is not the issue; so don't have liquid in the tires if possible.

A mid-mount mower will only fit with the turf tires. It's also my understanding that the 2007 models won't work the R4's either. Sorry, I also wish they would fit.

what is the difference between the R-4 and Turf? it looks like the turfs are taller and wider,but maybe not

I'm not certain of the size it's been a few years since I entertained the thought of a 3830, but the turf is a smaller diameter and will allow for a mid-mount. I saw a set-up at Parc's Equip. in West Virginia. When I bought my B3030 I again questioned if they made any changes to the wheel base so a man could run R4's, the answer was,"not yet." This is only my opinion," but the Grand L looks a little odd with the turfs."

the kubota rep says it has been done but he does not know how,so i elected to go with a 72' rear finish mower by woods, and the money saved going from a mid mount mower to a rear mower let let go to an l4330 for the same money, not sure if i like the idea about rear mower but like anything else use it a couple of times and it will be old school
