Just a couple of days ago, I had fired up my L3750, and it ran great. Today, as I was walking by it I noticed a large puddle of oil under it, dripping from just behind the front differential, and now it won't start or run.

I checked the dipstick, and the oil level is okay.

Any ideas about what is going on?

Unless you have reason to think the fluid is not from the tractor.. I would start there, check all fluids!! find the leak.. maybe it's diesel fuel leaking? hydraulic oil? axle oil? don't try starting it again til you've answered that question.. let us know. good luck

I'd deffinately check the crank case.. see if it is making oil.. if so.. check diesel tank.. I've heard stories of them filling up and hydraulically locking the cyls, and then filling the crankcase.. then leaking out the dipstick hole till the fuel tank went dry.

Trying to start them typically bends cranks and rods..

Good luck.

post back what you find.

If it was a diesel leak.. you may need your pump rebuilt.. I'd also run some extra lube inthat next tank of fuel, as well as the mandatory oil change.. ( though your block will be pretty well clean and flushed! )

If it turns over ok but won't start, the leak could be a broken fuel supply hose somewhere up front - maybe before the transfer pump or between the transfer and main injection pump - the fuel would leak out until the tank level got below the break (maybe not empty). Take off the right side engine cover and have a look - the transfer pump is on the side of the main pump.

Check your injector pump. They have oil in them and if it has leaked out you will have problems.

Wow! Thanks everyone for your response!

I have a feeling the oil leaked out of my fuel injection pump... is it likely seals? Damage?

Thanks again, all!

Sometimes working in the woods or around brushy areas, stick or limbs push up into the engine area and can tear a hose, or break off tubing etc. so check for anything obvious around the outside of the engine and fuel filter area.

If you answer some questions here it will help focus the advice you are getting. For instance, does the leaking stuff smell like diesel? or is it engine oil? Does the starter turn the engine over smoothly?

Check all the obvious things as mentioned.

My ford 1910 did the same thing a few years back. The seals in the pump gave out. I had the fuel injection pump rebuilt. It was not cheap but it is running great again.

Thanks, ccsial. I will follow up on everything mentioned above. I'll post the results.
