L3650 GST shuttle not going all the way into gear

Hi, I am reletivly new as a member but have searched posts here before. I have an L3650 (40hp, 4wd) with GST transmission. In shifting from forward to reverse
I am having issues where it will not go forward unless I firmly shift ( snap it in). I found one adjustment in the linkage below the steering column and was able to make it go well either in forward or in reverse or a balance where they are each equally needed a firm movement on the lever to get them to go into gear.
Anyone have any thoughts ot suggestions if there are any other adjustments? ( I have not shelled out the $160 for a manual yet! seems pricey but I havent seen any other way to find out how that all interacts with the transmission)

I appreciate the post..pulled all the covers off last night.. its a very different setup than your picture as mine is a 1992.. I did find worn bushings in a most inconvenient place .. dealer said he can still get the parts.. also found that in the top of the steering column there are adjustable stops.. the shift point in the transmission itself is tight so I am hoping it is just accumulated slack in the pivot points.. from all they went through to put that shift on the column a floor shift would have been a whole lot simpler.. thanks again for the post
