Kubota L3430
Hello all, been a lurker here for quite some time. I have gained much knowledge and help here, but I can't seem to find an answer for my problem. I have a L3430 HST that has roughly 3000 hrs on it. I love this tractor, and got it out to till a bit, went about 6 feet and then the tractor would not move. The Pto does not turn, and I am suspecting the clutch. I have tried the simple things like making sure the range selector is not in Neutral, as well as checking the oil level ( which is fine). The clutch makes a whining noise when released and the tractor will "try" to move in low range if you ride the clutch a little.

Any advice?

Thanks, Mark

It sounds like it is worn out especially when you said you put it in low range it moves some. Only way to check is to split it. If you are going to split it, go ahead and replace it.

I didn't think the HST trans had a clutch???

My L4310 HST has a clutch. I have to push it in to engage the PTO. Pushed in, it disconnects the HST trans.

Are you sure it couldn't be as simple as adjusting the free play on the clutch peddle?

I thought about that but the 3000 hours plus the intermittent movement in low gear where it would be easier of a worn clutch to move the transmission led me to believe it was well used.

The question would be then is there any free play in the clutch pedal. If so the fork is not riding on the throw out bearing. If not then adjustment would be in order or just disconnect the clutch linkage from the lever to let out all the play in the clutch. Then see what happens.

for me it sounds like a worn out toothing of the gearbox mainshaft the clutch plate is sliding on.
It seems I have the same problem with the clutch of my L275DT.
