L3430
My new 3430 hst is here and I didn't have time to read owners manual so here is something I thought was odd when I turn the right turn signal on the left side turn signal lights up solid and right one blinks, turn on left and the right side lights up solid and left blinks, is this normal ? The tractor is smooth and quiet very user friendly , the mower { a mid mount } is quiet and looks well built .Thanks for all the post on this board the info from real product owners this does help a person to look at features you might not think about till after you have owned one for a while, like the HST, it really makes operating these enjoyable.

Yes, the turn signal is normall, my tractors do the same thing. Enjoy the new tool. I'm having a ball with my new compact, a L4330. Don't work too hard. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Probably normal. My JD 4310 is the same way. Some federal regulation probably requires it.

Reason is probably so that someone behind you in the dark can tell which side of the tractor the signal light is blinking on., since they otherwise (I think) are not lit.

In other words, if it was dark and only the flashing light was lit up, it would be hard to tell from the back which side of the tractor it was on. With the non-flashing light lit up, you can tell which way it's going to turn.

Just my own theory, of course. Not sure how important turn signals really are on a tractor. I turn my flashers on when I'm down by the road so that people can hopefully see me better.

Snowman, don't know if your "theory" is correct or not, but it sure sounds good! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I would never have thought of that.

That sounds good, but if this is the case why don't cars and trucks have this requirement? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Just guessing, but probably because at night the tailights are on anyway, and during the day, it wouldn't be needed? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Exactly - at night, both taillights on a car/truck are already lit up, so you can easily determine which side of the vehicle has the flashing light

Makes sense to me. Great minds /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

If I'm driving my tractor down a road at night I have the lights on anyway, so the tail lights are lit just like on a car. So I still don't see the diff. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif What am I missing?

My B7500 has red taillights, which are lit up (not much tho) when the headlights are on.

The flashers/directional signals are separate round orange lights that do not go on with the headlights/taillights.

Who knows what the real answer is - could simply be that Mr. Kubota's son had a light business (that's a joke).

I would assume just better visability.

Anyone wanna takes bets on when a brake light will show up on the ROPS?

The taillights and headlights work off of different switches. You can have your headlights on and not have the rear taillights on.

Well, the yellow turn signals are really brite on mine and face forward on the fenders. The otherside of the light is red. The turn lights don't stay on unless you keep the turn switch on. Only lights up when your using the turn indicators. But, one will flash, while the other side just stays on constantly untill you switch it off.

The turning lights stay off untill you use that indicator switch. Then there is two other red lights built into the rear part of the fenders that stay on with the head lamps.

To many details? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

On the JD 4310 it is not possible to activate the headlights without having two rear lights on as well (assuming everything is working, of course /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif)
