Are you going to pull vegetable carts, mow cleared fields, mow around obstacles, load gravel at the building supply, or use your tractor as a hoe or snow plow? It makes a difference.
For straight ahead, no-radius turn creep speed work or clear field mowing, HST is a waste of money. For back and forth work, which describes a lot general maintenance chores like loading, grading, and obstacle mowing, any grandmother or any grandchild could drive an HST after about 90 seconds to adjust the seat, provided they can climb into it and reach the pedals. HST is simple, especially when you're looking over your shoulder all the time.
I recommend you go drive one.
