About a month ago while I was cleaning out a drain full of willows. there was a point where I had backed into about a 4 inch stump. Which drove that damper toward the front of the tractor. I had to use a chainsaw to release the stump. At that time I could only use reverse until I got back home and made an adjustment on the pedal.

Yesterday after getting stuck again, I found my damper for the speed control pedal hanging underneath my L3400hst when I tried to place it where it looked like it belonged. The pedal would not let me move forward.

Has anyone had a similar experience I would appreciate any advise I can get on this, besides not getting stuck. The tractor has industrial tires which should be agricultural tires for the environment i'm using it in.

Thank you

Don't have it handy, but I do have a service manual for the L3400. If you are stuck, PM me and I will take a look to see what I can find. Or, post a photo of what you are dealing with, and maybe one of us can reply with a photo?

The tractor is out at my property about an hour out of Winnipeg. I will definitely will take some photos and post them next time i'm out. Don't know why I didn't think about that.
Since I often take pics of my projects.

It is very possible the outer cylinder got partially crushed. Take a good look at it, it may need to be replaced.

Is that damper supposed to move back and forth like a shock?
The reason I ask is, the stump that I backed into was pushed right up against the back of that damper.
I wonder what the purpose of that damper is ? Since the machine seems to run ok with it disconnected.

Thanks for your input. I'll check that out next time I'm there.

Yes, it is basically a shock. The damper is there to slow the return of the treadle to center position helping to eliminate the sudden stop if your foot slips off or is removed suddenly, especially in low range.

Thank you guys for the information. It all makes sense now.

Shared album - Rod Fritz - Google Photos

That thing is seized tight it won't move in or out. It looks like it connects onto that pin with the cotter pin by the double springs.

I remember now that when I got it back to the yard that while I was trying to free the pedal, because I only had reverse. I stomped on the pedal and that must have been what caused it to pop off and give me forward.
