Kubota L3130 HST
Last night, my daughter parked my new (66 hrs) L3130 in the machine shed and this morning I found the loader had lowered itself to the ground. It squished a 5 gallon bucket of Super UDT. Glad it didnt rupture the bucket - but it is really crinkled.

Does anyone else's LA513 loader do this overnight?

Maybe Im spoiled, because the 3 pt arms stay up indefinately.

Can't say for sure that it's abnormal to have the hydraulics leak down over a period of time . In fact I think that it's to be expected . But to what extent I can't say for sure . I leave my bucket and 3ph implements on the ground when I shut the machine down . John

Depends on the control valve you happended to get with your tractor and yes it is normal.

It is a good practice though to lower the loader to the ground when you park your tractor...

My B2910 Kubota loader hangs forever, but my backhoe drops fairly fast...

Nothing to worry about except what might be under the loader bucket if you don't put it on the ground when you park it...I have a little neighbor boy that just turned six and now has expanded his world to include my place once in a while so I am even more aware of the need to put everything on the ground when I am done with it.

My B2400 does the same thing, loader drops over time but 3 pt will stay up for ever. Strange thing tho my buddy has a 14 year old bota and his loader does not drop.

I have a LA723 on my 3130 and it doesn't drop; however, one of my hoe's stabilizers and the bucket curl slowly drop over time. The boom, swing and other stabilizer do not move at all.

Is this normal for one to hold and another to drop? Only if YOU, the equipment owner, accept it as such.

The cylinders move because somewhere within the system, the seals are not holding or components have failed; thereby, allowing fluid to pass from high pressure to low. This is basic "Hydraulics 101."

Without the knowledge and correct tools, finding the cause can be time consuming and expensive. Which system component is the culprit? ...cylinder(s)? ...control valve? ...relief valve? ...pump? ...or maybe multiple components have failed?

Most owners and dealers are not hydraulic experts, so troubleshooting is, at best, a parts changing guessing game. Sometimes you get lucky; sometimes you don't.

No dealer can get warranty payment on 6 hrs. of his time for a job that should have taken 2 hrs. So, with all of this known risk, what would you say when a customer asks you, "Hey, is this normal?"

Again I say, if you are happy to live with it, so be it. But, in time, that component failure will get worse. As it does, you are losing more and more system performance. A cylinder now takes 1 hour to bleed down whereas, last week it took overnight; therefore, loader lifting capacity may now be only 700 lbs instead of 900. No doubt this will occur just beyond the end of the warranty period. (Don'tcha love Murphy's Law!!!)

Good luck with you decision.

Drop IS a normal thing. The speed of drop is determined by the tolerance stack of the spool valve. A valve can be bought and/or made that doesn't do this, but cost for the valve would be several times higher than the one you have now. It is trade off, like everything. The closer the tolerance the higher the cost.
