I have a L3130-HST-4wd with bushhog FEL-M246. Anyway my perceived problem is it seems to bog down under a load while pulling my 60" KK box blade. I would have thought that if the box were getting to heavy that it would just start spinning the tires. I have R4 industrial tires, no added weights. the engine speed just drops off and it will stall if I don't take my foot off the HST pedal. Engine has about 58 hours on it. I know I need to get the fluids and filters changed. I pulled the air filter and it did not seem to be very dirty, Anyone out there with a L3130 feel like their tractor is lacking power or does my tractor maybe have a problem, or is my 30 hp engine to small for the size and weight of the L31XX tractor? Maybe I'm just expecting to much from her? /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

What range did you have the transmission in? I can certainly spin the tires, R4s w/rears loaded, in 4wd low range. That was at an rpm setting of about 2200. My L3130HST has about half the hours yours does. I can stall the engine in high and medium range and I usually operate in medium.

When I have the teeth down running in low speed, 2400 to 2500 rpm, running at about .75 to 1.5 mph, when the box is about full, and my direction takes the tractor on a very slight upgrade, it will bog down, have to let off the pedal, let the engine rev back up and then apply pedal again, on and off until I either get going down hill or lift the box. I just seem to remember my uncles tractor would just start spinning it's wheels I don't ever remember the engine boging down.

Faw,

I'd say make sure to do your 50 hour service and come back with more information. You may just be having a flow issue due to it being a brand new engine/transmission. You will likely be amazed how much stuff comes out of the transmission fluid the first time....not to mention what is clogged up in the filter. While you're at it, clean the outside of the radiator as well. Spray some kind of cleaner in there....Simple Green or the like and hose it off good. Don't use anything too toxic that might degrade your radiator.

My 3830 will bog under the right conditions in mid-range. Not in low though...it will just bury itself.

It took me a while to learn on my L3430 that the pedal is not an accelerator...i.e. when you're in a car, if the car slows down (like when pulling a hill), apply more pedal...on your HST tractor, when the rpm's drop under load, back off on the pedal and watch the rpm's climb...

Could this be the problem you are having??

I have a 3130 also. You have to slow down. Wish I had about 20 more horses, but so does everyone.

Fun eh?

It sounds like you just need a bigger engine!
I have an L4310HST and I would not want any less HP for the tasks I do. So I can only imagine what it would be like with 10hp less. Just take it easy and take your time.

I'd say this is quite accurate. The L3130 will bog down more then the other L30's being that it is basically the same tractor with just less HP. A few less pounds, smaller tires, but essentially the same. Just back off on the drive pedal and put it in low. Spinning your tires depends on more then just power. Some soils like mine offer very good traction. When I get into more clay soils, I can spin the tires all day, not that it helps.

Thanks, for all the responses. I just did the 50 hour maintenance changed all the filters and fluids tonight. Buta had a bath and everything, probably lost hundred pounds. Haven't had a chance to get out and play (I mean work ) again, but after reading all the replies I think Garey may have shaved the corners off this old square peg. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif I think you maybe right that I have been using the HST pedal like a gas pedal, when the tractor starts to slow down, I have been increasing the pressure on the pedal. Will try some more grading this weekend and use the cruise control to see if that will keep my lead foot off the pedal. Like Tim Allen and Capt. Kirt " Scotty, I need more power!!!
Thanks again guys! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
