Kubota L3130 JD X750 and X350
Well I now have 50 hours on my L3130HST......its time for service. I have read many posts on people trying to decide to do the service themselves or let the dealer do it. Since I have about forty projects going for the wife I am going to have the dealer come and get it. The one question I have is that the dealer said they do not use the Kubota brand hyd. fluid. They use some other product that is cheaper but still will work. This kind of worries me.....I think I rather pay more for the actual Kubota stuff.

As far as the tractor goes....it has been great to use. I have had no problems and she works flawlessly. But I do have a gripe.....The HST pedal in colder temps does not self center when you let off. If you are tight quarters this is no good. But I must say I would not own anything different. If any one is considering this size tractor I highly recomend it. Now I have to talk the wallet into letting me buy an FEL for her. And no I am not calling my wife a wallet! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hillslider,
Your hydro pedal is probably still a little stiff. There should be a zerc at the pivot that you can lube. I had the same problem with mine when it was new. After a few shots of lube it cleared right up.

Hillslider,

You may want to check prices at different dealerships. I have two dealerships about equal distance but in different directions. I was surprised to find one dealership wanted $100 more than the other one for the exact same 50hr service. So I was glad I priced it out.

By the way I decided to have the dealer do my 50hr service on my M9000 because the price wasn’t that different between them doing it and me doing it because the shop charges bulk prices for the oil which is less than if I had bought it in 5gal pals.

I prefer the Super UDT for here in the north. I don't know but my second favorite is the Ultra Hytran by Case-IH and NH has a 200 series spec in there line up of hydraulic fluids that cover the lower weight needed for northern temperatures.

Art,

What this dealer uses is a Chevron 1000THF. They claim the Chevron product can be used to replace the UDT. They have verified this with the Chevron rep. Any thoughts on this product. Just because it is cheaper does not mean I want to bless my tractor with it.

That is a great idea......I think I will just tell them what I want and they will do it. Problem solved!

Now......Do you know of a difference between the two products? Or was that all you had to offer?

Go to Chevron's website and you will see it is approved for Kubota. In all reality, they probably make it for Kubota. I will use the Chevron at the 200 hour service on my 3130..

I was under the assumption that Valvoline manufactured Super UDT.

Seems to me That fact was brought up in a post by CNoel.

I know that Valvoline makes many of the NAPA brand lubricants. Chevron tends to be particular about it's products. For instance, only Chevron stations can use Chevron trucks and products. It was explained to me once by a man delivering fuel. He said other then that, it pretty much comes down to price for most independent stations. They will buy the lowest cost product and that changes all the time. I would feel comfortable using any name brand product that specified it replaces UDT. I really don't think its that big of a deal, yet realize the importance of using the right product, especially in our HST's. Art seems to be a very reliable source and would have no problem using his recommnedations. Mark
