Today, I replaced my fuel filter and when I went to open the air vent screw to bleed the fuel system I think it was left open. Is the vent screw open or closed when the screw is completely turned counter clockwise? Thanks Steve.

Can't remember, it's just like on my tractor. Manual says it will run rough if it stays open. I'd think it open when counterclockwise, but am not at tractor or manual at this time to check...maybe somebody else is.

Workshop manual seems to indicate "clockwise" to close ...see attached picture

clockwise is closed. manual says to run motor for 30 sec with open, then turn off motor, and close valve(clockwise).

Yeah, and even after you close it the things runs rough for a few minutes. I don't bother messing with the bleeder screws most of the time any more - seems to work better just changing the filter out and firing it up again.

Just don't make the mistake of trying to run the motor with no filter installed. Running the lines completely dry is no picnic to remedy... :p

Just completed my 100 hour service. I pulled the fuel filter and was surprised to see how much sludge had accumulated in such a short time. The bottom of the bowl had black goo going halfway up the spring. Glad I had another filter on hand.

I just finished my fuel filter and oil change Saturday and there was almost no foreign material at all in the fuel bowl of my L4400. I guess I'm lucky that the place I buy my fuel has clean tanks.

My bowl only had a few particles on the bottom. Otherwise very clean.

I know I am going back and digging an old thread.

I am looking for some help on getting a part number for the fuel bleeder pictured in the first picture with the red arrow.

I have a Kubota engine Model # V2003T, it's out of a Thomas skid steer.

I changed my fuel filter and when I went to crack the vent it was tight so I took a pair of pliers and ended up twisting off the knob. I could still use it with just the brass stem sticking out but want it replaced.

Thanks for any help and sorry if this is the wrong way to go about it.
