I just purchase a L3130 and looking at getting a box blade. The manual says the maximum width for a box
blade for this tractor is 65". Do you think a 72" would work without problems? I'm mainly concerned
about the pulling power of using this size on a L3130. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Thanks,
Doug

Just depends entirely on what you try to do with it. As a generalization, I'd say, "No problem." It'll be great for spreading loose material, leveling, etc., but if you have hard clay soil, try to dig all the ripper teeth as deep as possible at the same time, you may not be able to pull it. And the simple solution for that is to not try to cut too deep. Personally, I think you'll like a 72" with that tractor.

Bird is absolutely correct. In the Kubota brochure for the L30 Series models, go to the implement chart. There they show a 72" box scraper model L7576A for all of the L30 models. The manual leads me to believe other things as well, for instance, on page 6 in the same brochure they show a L3430 pulling what I believe to be a 3 gang andpride mower, easily beyond the 72" width the manual recommends. I take the manual as a guide. Get the 72" box scrapper. In hard material, your going to have a hard time ripping very deep, but then, you just make shallow passes. Even my L48 would get hung up with the rippers fully extended going into hard ground. Rat...

I have a L3130 with a HB65 Woods BB. The only time it really bogs down is when its overfull and pulling dirt against the rear tires! It still pulls it at about 2mph though. I'm not dissapointed with the 65" width.

If I had to do over here is what I'd get:
72" width.
Adjustable depth scarifiers, could use something longer/deeper than what the single position HB65 offers.
Adjustable rear gate, meaning lock it solid or let it rotate.

The 72" would also be a better match for ballast when I have a 72" FEL bucket full of damp dirt.

I have a new 3130 (9 hours on it right now) and I got the Bush Hog 65" box blade with it. I was actually looking at it for ballast for the FEL, but it's become my favorite implement. It's great for everything from dragging out brush to levelling off the gravel drive. My unit has adjustable scarifiers (three position) and I wouldn't go with fixed depth.

The only problem I've had is the first time I used it on gravel.. I hadn't put the tractor in 4WD and as soon as the box filled up with gravel I started digging two large holes with the rear tires. As soon as a dropped it into 4wd we went happily on our way. The blade took care of the holes too!

I can't see that adding 7 inches of width could cause you any problems. The sales brochure does list the 72 for the L3130. My dealer recommended the 65. I think it's a pretty good width for me. Either way I don't think you could go wrong.

I like bush hog. Woods also makes great stuff.. and Kubota for that matter..
