L3010...Wet Sleeves?

It's time to change the anti-freeze and I have read about the requirements of adding an anti-freeze with SCA's if you have wet sleeves. Problem is I don't know if my Kubota has the wet sleeves or not. The manual doesn't mention a special type anti-freeze. I have been to several auto supply houses and truck stops and haven't found anything specifically for diesels or that mention SCAs. When I have asked some of the clerks they looked at me like I had a third eye. By the way I don't....

I don't think the 3010 has wet sleeves, but I could be wrong.
On my tractors I just run the same anti-freeze as I do in my other vehicles ( car and truck).
But I on occasion do add John Deere coolant conditioner to my tractors antifreeze. It helps guard against coolant system corrosion and liner pitting in wet sleeve engines.

Go to any "big" truck dealer or to your local Ford dealer and ask for Diesel Coolant Additive. Fleetgaurd is sold at International Truck dealer here. It's not that expensive. I think I'd put in the minmum amount required in our little diesels. From what I've been led to believe, in a Power Stroke at least, that too much will shorten the life of your water pump seals. A NH mechanic on this site recommended that you it in any diesel engine because of the cavitation issues. My TC35DA has only 12 hours on it, and when it warms up enough, I'll be adding the DCA, and the NH doesn't have wet sleeves. While at the store, get yourself some DCA test strips so you won't have to guess how much to add. These are similar to litmus paper, and come with a chart to get the correct amount of conditioner to add. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
