Can anyone point us new tractor buyers to a place where we could find specs on older Kubotas? Not real old, just the last decade or so. I'm looking at a '96 L2900DT FST with LA480 loader (157 hrs). I've been told it's basically a grand L, predecessor to the L3010. It is a flat deck, and appears to be similar to the modern appearance of my Dad's new L3010(HST). Now I'm reading threads and see there is a L3000DT - where does that fit in?. I've also rented "50'S" (3450, 2950). It sure would be good to have some sort of quick list of years and models, or whatever convenient way to arrange could be found. I'm new here, so if I've missed a thread on this, let me know. I'd also like to know what the diff's are between LA480, 481, & 482 loaders. Does Kubota like to change models designations with minor tech changes? Any opinions about the Kubota attachments? New brochures show quite a selection - big bux??

Thanks,

Mark

I'm not familiar with the L2900, but I can tell you a little about the L2600 and L3000. I actually have an L2500, which is the predecessor to the L2600. These are basically the not-quite-so-grand L's. That doesn't mean they aren't great tractors, but rather they are the "Economy" series.

Specifically, they are the no-frills L's, with only the gear shift transmission (no HST models), no mid-PTO, no folding ROPS, and maybe a little less creature comfort in the cockpit. That still leaves you with a lot of tractor for a good price.

The L3010 is about 8 inches longer and several hundred pounds heavier than the economy L3000, but depending on your situation, shorter and lighter might be a plus. You'll have to decide that for yourself.

Good luck, and keep us posted.

Hi Harv -enjoy your posts!

I detailed the specifics of the reply to tnzsmith's post titled "Kabota L2900", which you've probably seen. These here little links are the first time I've used markup - ain't I proud!

The tractor is flat deck FST model with an LA480 loader - it really looks like my Dad's new L3010. I sorta divide models into flat deck and traditional hump. I'd appreciate any advice on evaluating tractors. That bent tie rod bugs me, although I know these things are tanks.

I'm going to call the dealer, maybe go over today, after I get out of work and take a little nappy. I'm gonna make an offer, and maybe drool over the 3710 once more. Maybe there will be some news soon. Is this the preferred way to post pictures that are on other web pages? /w3tcompact/icons/clever.gif/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Mr Miller:

Thank you very much! I've been impressed by your posts!

I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I'm just short timer and this Miller guy scares me already. I'm thinking about calling him Yoda, or more correctly, 'Bota.

Hope you have a sense of humor, John - if I didn't, I'd have no sense at all.

Thanks a lot, again.

Postscript:

Let a week go by, as dealer had to contact owners. Owners wanted a couple thou more than I was willing to go - they can't find the manuals; service history is verbal. I'm not willing to go higher without documentation, so I politely withdrew my offer. Now looking at new ones........
