Kubota L2800HST
Just got off the phone with a local dealer. Here is the price he gave me.

L2800HST
R4's
LA463 loader
Wheel spacers for rear - said he recommended them so hitch arms don't hit on the R4's

$15,600

This was thru phone conversation, so I might be able to do a little better in person. What do you guys think?

That's 12%-13% off of list. Sounds fair to me.

I did check the price of a L2800 HST. The dealer told me $12500 for the tractor. It had a Bush Hog 246 loader (last year's model loader, I think) on the tractor. The cost of the loader was $3400. I believe I could have talked him off more if I wanted it.

Nice tractor, but for $1200 - $1400 more, I can get the L3130 FST. Has a little more weight and features. If I was getting the 00 series, it would be a HST version. Good luck...

Get him to give you a price breakdown; then submit it to the members here. How much for the R4's, LA463 loader, foldable ROPS(?), and the HST---I think there is still some room to squeeze?

Well, things are already in motion and we came to $15,500. He actually gave me that price a few weeks ago and the tractor had Ag tires on it. When I went back to look at it yesterday the had swapped to the R4s. He wanted to charge me extra for the R4s since the were about $400 more than the AGs. I got him to keep the R4s at the $15500 price. I'm happy with that. He is only about 10 miles away and the next dealer is about 40 miles so I just went with the local. Him and his family have been in business since the late 40's and my family has always dealt with them so I think I did the right thing. I might have been able to get it $300 cheaper somewhere else but I wanted to support the local family dealership. Depending on how fast he gets the lift valve swapped out, he hopes to get it to me this weekend. So I will post some pics when I get her.

I am most curious about pricing and sales tax.

I was given this comment here in New Hampshire where there are no sales tax:

"The L2800 hydro transmission with a loader and ballasted R4 tires retails here for $17,200."

We were merely comparing different tractor options as we narrow down our choice for a summer, 2007 purchase. It was not a sale discussion. So, I am unsure if he would take 10% to 15% off of this $17,200 number he tossed out.

Had this been a sale discussion, should I expect a discount of 10% to 15% off this stated retail price? That would be offering me an L2800 hydro transmission with a loader and ballasted R4 tires for $14,964 and no sales tax.

It just seems like we are paying more in New Hampshire than many of the price threads I have been following on TBN concerning other states/regions. Maybe we are fine.

Thanks,
The Gardener

Pricing is regional. Here in New England prices tend to be on the higher side. The MSRP is the same everywhere but the amount dealers are willing to discount is lower here. A lot depends on the model, availability, demand, cost to do business, and I think on the shipping costs. The cost of doing business is definately higher here.

Any discount over 10% around here is considered good. Remember, the dealer usually will not tell you what the MSRP or his cost is. YOU have to be proactive and do your homework in order to get the best deal possible. You will also normally get his best price when you are actually ready with money in hand to make the purchase.

Thanks for the pricing input. I thought it seemed a bit higher, but that is certainly understandable if the equipment is shipped to NH/NE from the midwest.

I'll be most interested in the actual price that I am offered when we do reach that point in this tractor pursuit. For now, it is all retail discussion after we have talked about specs. That's the stage we're at right now, and that's fine by me. I'm more interested in learning about the options as I try to better educate myself on the equipment, the specs, the features, and matching my needs.

Thanks Again!

If you really want to see the MSRP price books for various models of tractors then take a look here.
