Well i have to change the TC220-33332 suction line hose that has obviously suffered the infamous ingestion of air via a leak, but i should consider changing the hydraulic fluid as well.It

Question is how often do filters and fluids need to be changed based on time rather than hours.

Tractor currently has 128 hrs (2008 model). PO changed filters and fluids at 50 hours - probably in 2012.

It is HST model so is it a good idea to change the HST and hydraulic filter at this time?

I live in a dry climate if that make any difference to H20 accumulation.

Thx for you insight.

In a dry climate I would just follow the recommended 100hrs for oil, 200hrs for hydraulic filters, and 400hrs for hydraulic fluid. I have run 2+ years on engine oil and had over 7yrs on hydraulic fluid and that is running 2700psi hydraulic pressure. I have been running Rotella T6 and since 100hrs though. I replaced the suction hose on mine this year as a precautionary measure.

Thx for the info - I'll replace the suction hose, and change engine oil. Then think on the hydraulic oil change just due to time. One of my concerns on filters was if they degrade (disintegrate over time) then I would just change them - but there is only 80 hours on them now.

On your hydraulic pressure, what is standard "factory" pressure? Do you run this to have higher load capacity of the loader (i have the same FL463) or for perhaps speed. I wouldn't mind having a few hundred more pounds lift capacity of the loader if it can take it. Occasionally i lift something that is just on the edge of factory capability.

Thx,

Paul

I also go by the booklet on my 09 L2800.

The issue is not filters degrading, rather condensation contaminating the system. Varying seasons, daily temp swings, and high humidity. Have you ever went out to your tractor early in the morning and saw moisture "dew" on the engine and transmission? IF so.....its probably just like that on the inside. Overtime that moisture adds up to the point where it causes issues.

High humidity regions are worse than dry. I dont recall what the manual said (if any) regarding a time based interval. But if you live in average climate.....I'd want to do it at least every 4-5 years. But if the manual says....I'd follow that.

But then again, the manual also says to change things like fuel line, radiator hose and clamps, powersteering hose, air intake hose, and HST cooler line ever 2 years also? And I dont know anyone that follows those suggestions.

The factory spec for pressure is 2347psi. You gain about a pound of lift per pound of pressure, but no noticeable gain in speed. Here is the post on the whys and how to. It is long, but contains valuable information and insights.

You might consider getting a pressure gauge and a male coupling for it, and plug it into the loader circuit to see what your existing pressure is... if it's low, then adjust it. I did just that for my l3400, and it was essentially right on, so I left it alone. Total cost was about $16, so no big deal.

but no noticeable gain in speed.[/url]

There wouldn't be a measurable speed difference either. ITs a fixed displacement pump. So it dont care weather you set it at 1000psi or 3000psi....its gonna pump the same volume of fluid per revolution.
