L275 Kubota - Water in oil pan

i have a kubota L275, 3-cylinder engine. when i pour water into the radiator is goes to the oil pan. im really hoping it is only a head gasket problem. what do you guys think?

I'm not a mechanic but if the radiator fluid is finding its way into the oil pan fairly quick, it sounds like more than just a head gasket. Are you telling us that if you pour fluid into the radiator, it starts running out the oil drain (with plug removed) pretty soon? If it is, I think you might possibly have a cracked block.

head gasket would be first suspect. i would pull the head off, try to tear the gasket up as little as possible. close inspection of the old head gasket you can usually find the spot where it is blown. in your case i would look between a coolant passage and oil return hole. if you are not familiar with this, take your gasket to an automotive machine shop and ask someone to inspect it for you. if there is any question, have your head pressure checked. have your head checked for warp in any case, while its off is the time to address any problem. especially if the leak is fairly quick, i would not suspect a crack because cracks are usually fine hairline cracks and not capable of this rapid flow. cracks also, of course depending on where crack is, usually become worse when coolant under pressure. bear in mind i said "usually", anything is possible. there are always other scenarios. if you are not sure, pay somebody that knows to look at it. i always make every effort to find the cause of the problem while disassembled, and 99.9% of the time you can find it.

G'day hope this is not your prob but i recently had one of thesew little three cyl in at work with the same prob pulled the hesd and did not need to crack test head as it was very visible to the naked eye. Unfortunately this was throwaway hope yours is not the same but it looks like you have got to pull the head though

The other problem you have is that antifreeze is verry hard on bearings. How long did you run it with antifreeze in the oil? I would also check the bearings.

thanks everyone for your input. im not sure how long it was ran with coolant in the oil because it is at our farm and my uncle mainly uses it (or should I say used it), it will be a few weeks before i can get it to my house to start the tear down. i will let everyone know whats going on with an update when the tear down begins.

On a past tractor I had (L2250), we had a light radiator leak and ended up using straight water to coothrough the summer and early fall. Long story short, we froze it when we got a couple of cold late fall nights. I tore it down and reinstalled all the freeze plugs, oproblem solved. We ran it far another 400 hours or so before sellling it.

have water leaking from water pump to crankcase. how is it getting thur there?

Wouldn't a pressure test on the radiator be a dead give away, especially with the oil pan drain plug removed.

I have a Kubota l2250 with water in the oil pulled the head gasket looks good don't find any cracks in head not sure where to go with this, magna flux the head, ? replace the gasket, pressure test it ? pull motor and have block magna fluxed ? any ideas ?
