I recently received delivery of the L2501
I noticed the 540pto is at 2000rmps which seem to be low. The old tractor was at 2800rpms Being new to this tractor you guys/gals with more seat time on this model
What rpms do you operate doing loader work and at the pto
Thanks

The L2501 has a large motor that has been limited in RPM to cap the HP output and avoid emissions controls. They have geared the PTO so it can get to 540 at lower engine RPMs than typical.

Since this is a large torquey motor, it should be fine, and I'd expect you can do general work at lower RPMs than you are used to. It's a great motor and a bit of a sleeper.

Why does 2000 rpms seem low for a diesel engine? I have operated different diesel powered tractors since the mid 1970's and they were actually at peak productivity at 2000 rpms all day long. Anything more will reduce the life of the engine. Period.

The L2501 has a large/100 cubic inch motor that has been limited in RPM to cap the HP output and avoid emissions controls. They have geared the PTO so it can get to 540 at lower engine RPMs than typical.

Max 24.8-horsepower is developed at low 2,200 rpm.

Anything over 2000 rpms make the engine run hotter, burns more fuel, and wears everything out much faster.

Last year we had early moisture and wheel tall weeds to mow - then I revved her up to 2000 and let the King Kutter handle what it could. This year with almost no rain, there are no weeds to mow, so 1500 RPM is plenty to drag the landscape rake around. Probably wont be using 15 of those 25 horses this year. Man its dry..
