I'm a builder and developer and have been using company equipment to maintain a 1/2 mile gravel road into my place, several fairly long gravel driveways into the house and a few outbuildings, etc. I have a 25hp mower deck I pull behind a large quad to keep a few acres of wild grass and brush cut down. I've decided to get a tractor that could stay home, so that as I have time I can do some work instead of bringing a piece of equipment home from the shop or a jobsite. I keep a couple piles of gravel for the driveways, and landscaping rock so that I can touch things up as needed. Some winters we get a fair amount of snow. I have a plow on a big quad, and when we get quite a bit I typically bring a skid or a CTL home.
I am thinking a L2501 with the 525 loader, a grader scraper for maintaining the gravel road and driveways, and a rear blade for maintaining ditches, some road work, and snow removal in the winter. I like that it's under the limit for DPF and the associated hassles. I have several dealers within 50 miles. I'm close to the Oregon border and can buy from a dealer down there, about 30 miles away, and save 8.7% sales tax. The quotes I've been getting have been about $22k for the 2501 HST with the 525 loader with quick attach, R4 tires, bucket, and the grader scraper and rear blade. Does that seem in the ballpark for a fair deal?
I live in a very agricultural area, so all of the major brands have dealers close by. I looked at the New Hollands but didn't like them as well as Kubota. The only other tractor I'm going to look at is an LS. I had never heard of them before, but recently saw the local dealer run an ad. It looks like they may be worth a look. They have a 6 year powertrain warranty, which is what Kubota is currently offering along with 0% financing, which is pretty attractive.
Any thoughts or advice would be genuinely appreciated.
