I'm a builder and developer and have been using company equipment to maintain a 1/2 mile gravel road into my place, several fairly long gravel driveways into the house and a few outbuildings, etc. I have a 25hp mower deck I pull behind a large quad to keep a few acres of wild grass and brush cut down. I've decided to get a tractor that could stay home, so that as I have time I can do some work instead of bringing a piece of equipment home from the shop or a jobsite. I keep a couple piles of gravel for the driveways, and landscaping rock so that I can touch things up as needed. Some winters we get a fair amount of snow. I have a plow on a big quad, and when we get quite a bit I typically bring a skid or a CTL home.

I am thinking a L2501 with the 525 loader, a grader scraper for maintaining the gravel road and driveways, and a rear blade for maintaining ditches, some road work, and snow removal in the winter. I like that it's under the limit for DPF and the associated hassles. I have several dealers within 50 miles. I'm close to the Oregon border and can buy from a dealer down there, about 30 miles away, and save 8.7% sales tax. The quotes I've been getting have been about $22k for the 2501 HST with the 525 loader with quick attach, R4 tires, bucket, and the grader scraper and rear blade. Does that seem in the ballpark for a fair deal?

I live in a very agricultural area, so all of the major brands have dealers close by. I looked at the New Hollands but didn't like them as well as Kubota. The only other tractor I'm going to look at is an LS. I had never heard of them before, but recently saw the local dealer run an ad. It looks like they may be worth a look. They have a 6 year powertrain warranty, which is what Kubota is currently offering along with 0% financing, which is pretty attractive.

Any thoughts or advice would be genuinely appreciated.

If you didn't like the New Holland I have bad news about the LS...

They're the same tractor.

The 2501 will do what you want. That's what I primarily used the L3301 for, and I ran out of traction long before the engine gave up.

You're being quoted fair prices. 22K for L2501 HST with LA525 loader is about right. I paid 24ish for a L3301 and the same loader in early 2016.

Massey, Deere, Kioti, Yanmar, Mahindra, TYM, RK....all have machines in this size. I would look closer at Kioti, Yanmar, RK and TYM. TYM makes RK.
Don’t get me wrong the L2501 is a great machine....just want to be sure you know all of your options.

Interesting about the LS and New Holland, just a lighter shade of blue eh?

The 22k was with the LA525 loader and the 60" grader scraper and 84" rear blade, so probably not a bad deal. 3 dealers all came in about the same price. I can save about 2k in sales tax on top of that if I go to the dealer across the border in Oregon.

I think I've decided to bring a John Deere CT322 that we are taking out of service next month home. I'll need to get a grader scraper for it. We typically trade units coming out of service in on a replacement as we only pay sales tax on the difference between the trade in and the new unit. I'm going to talk with our JD dealer tomorrow and see what we can work out for trading it in knowing I will buy it back personally. I may just end up buying it from my company. Will have to see which way works out best. The unit is enclosed with heat and A/C. My wife asked me today if I really wanted to spend any time next winter plowing out in the open. The CT322 that is coming out of service next month is the one I brought home twice this year to deal with some late season snow, and it was nice being warm and out of the weather.
