Have a L185 Kubota,noisy in only first gear. Major expense? Just replace 1-2 gears? Don't think it's the throwout bearing, noise only in first gear. What is my next step in diagnosis?

I had a L185 and heard what I thought was transmission noise when in first gear only. I check the 4x4 lever and it was not completely in the disengaged position but not engauged either. When I moved it back just a little the noise was gone. Have a look if your L185 is 4x4 this may be the problem.
