Looking at buying a l120 deere has 550 hours was bought new by an old man in 2003. He wants 800 for it.

What kinda issues have you had.

How long do you think this engine is gonna last for?

Is it a good price?

Hood has a crack and seat is staring to pull from seems.

48 inch deck and like a 20hp briggs engine.

Price seems high to me. The transmission in the those tractors don't seem to last long without giving problems. I'd say you're at the high end of it's life unless he's replaced it. The spindles are sealed. Not sure how long they'd last. These are yard tractors and cut grass well on smooth yards. If you abuse it, it won't last.

I have the same mower with the Briggs Intek 20hp bought new in 2003 as well. I only have 240 hours, but never had any issues.

Side note its onky gonna be used in the fall to mulch up leaves and walnuts. We bought a argi fab pull behind vacumm mulcher. So it wont get much use but will help on the property.

Many years ago I had an L-120. It was a decent little lawn mower, but as many have noted, the tranny failed--far less than 500 hours on it. I love my John Deere, but I would be cautious about this machine.
