The original owner of my L4200 had cut the ROPS to fit a low shed.
I'm in the process of copying Kubota's folding design, but need to know the diameter of the two big bolts they use on an L Series tractor to hinge and fasten it into place.
Thanks for the info, I was thinking of using a 5/8 Grade 5 or 8 bolt.
16mm is .629 and 5/8 is .625 so that size should be good.
I will be using 1/4" steel to build the U that's welded to the lower section, as that's what I measured on the dealers L4600, and I'll have a pro do all the welding.
Also trying to decide if during a rollover the locking pin carries all the load, or if the hinge bolt would carry some as well. A Cat 0 to Cat 1 bushing would work well for the hinge tube at 5/8 ID, but is slightly smaller on OD at 7/8 than what I see on the dealers L4600 at 1".
Also found the part number for the plastic ROPS end caps on Messicks, site and my local dealer has ordered them too. I love that its a Kubota and I can get most any part easily.
