well folks not sure about this, but I was out on the front porch this evening and looked down and saw KUDZOO.. and lots of it..
The front is not level enough for me to get the tractor out there...
BUT I want to kill that Kudzoo...

What do yall use?

any and all ideas welcome.. and the really bad part-- the Kudzoo is growing right on top of the septic field.. so it has LOTS of water!!!

Kudzu - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Gives you some information on control.

thanks for that Wil..

has anyone every used plastic?
I just remembered that a neighbor said a fence with black thick roll plastic will resist growth.. As in the kudzu can't frow up the plastic....

Use a strong herbicide like 24D for broadleaf. Roundup (glyphasate) will work, other commercial stuff like transline, chopper, or garlon will all kill it as well as everything else. Spray it now if only with round up. I am a forester here in the south, and oversee several herbicide applications a year. I actively spray kudzu on one of the places i manage on a shoestring budget. I can only do small areas each time, but it takes at least 3 applications on certain persistant vines to totally kill them. Seems like some vines if every leaf dosent get herbicide on it it can hang on. The roots can go tens of feet deep so it takes a lot to kill them. My applications kill 95% the first time and seem to get all but say less than a percent the second time. The last 2 applications are just touchups to get missed plants which are always generally small.

Talk to your county extension agent to see what works best with the type of Kudzu in your area. This stuff is horrible to get rid of and will be a multi-year process. Some around here have had pretty good luck using goats. They love the stuff.

This may not help your location, our DNR person told us that cattle will wipe Kudzoo out too.

I am curious if you have tried using a mix of 2,4,d and glyphosphate? I use that as a 'kill all' and it it quite effective over using one or the other by itself. Never tried it on any type of vine much less kudzu.

I wouldn't know what to use, But if I were in need of killing this stuff I would ask your State DOT or the local power company, what ever it is they use works well, I've seen them spraying Kudzu one day and the next day already weltering,.... I think the DOT has been instructed not cut this stuff until they kill it out, its Been know that while cutting it from the right-of-way, and then travel to an area that does not have the Kudzu, the cutter can hold seeds and spread them in other area's, via the reason for spraying,
