I JUST BOUGHT A OLDER KUBOTA 1500DL IS IT A GOOD TRACTOR?

I'm not familar with it so I've got no idea, but I'd imagine that if it's a "brand name", then it's reasonable to expect it to be as good as the namesake (presuming well maintained).

IE, if you bought a 45 year old mercedes that was well maintained, it ought to be as good as any 45 year old mercedes that was well maintained.

Alvin, it's probably a good tractor, but the L1500 is a gray market tractor, and as such, is not supported by Kubota. So a Kubota dealer probably will not be able to help much if you should have to ask for parts for an L1500. However, perhaps some of our members might know which U.S. model is closest to it and the parts may be interchangeable.

Alvin, I guess I can't say for sure it's a gray market tractor since you say it's an L1500DL and I never heard of a "DL". But Kubota's web site lists the L1500 and L1501 as gray market and in their list of prior products that are not gray market, I don't find any L1500 at all. So, I guess I'd have to say I think you've bought a gray market tractor, but can't say for sure. On the other hand, are you sure about the model number? Your description, of course, does not sound like a gray market to me.

Alvin, beats me what it is. The L175 and L225 were not gray market tractors, so if that's what you have, it isn't gray market. On the other hand, as I mentioned before, sometimes there are comparable domestic and gray market models on which many of the parts are interchangeable. So I guess it's possible that the ROPS was added later and the same ROPS that fits the L175 also fits the L225 and the L1500. I'm just not familiar enough with those models to know.
