Kubota windshield replacement

I've checked for a thread on this and didn't find one. I caught a rock or bird yesterday while transporting my L4240. Completely shattered my windshield. Has anyone ever tried to replace these themselves?
This wasn't how I was expecting my weekend to go.

Ouch. Not a job I'd attempt myself, but any automotive windshield service should be able to do it.

Accidents happen sorry to say. I haven't done any tractor windows but I have replaced rear windows in a few classic trucks. It's a probably similar install. Main rubber goes into tractor frame, window goes into rubber track then a bead lock strip is inserted to lock the window in place. It is at least a 2 man job. I used suction cup glass holders to position and hold the glass. The tough part is inserting the bead to lock everything in place. Heres a pictorial on the process.

Before you get involved in trying to do it yourself check to see if your insurance will cover the replacement. My tractor ins. covers glass replacement or possibly you auto insurance may cover it since you were towing in on your trailer.

I think on yours, Papa, there is no rubber seal, I can't see any in your pic.
I did replace a side rounded" window, very expensive, there's a special silicone they use along with a black primer, got this stuff from windshield specialist's.
I personally wouldn't want to tackle this front one alone. Leave it on the trailer and bring it to a specialist,
call ahead to have the windshield ordered, hope your ins covers it.

This has turned out better than I had hoped. The window and seals will be less than 200 bucks delivered and the install should be under 100. I was prepared for a lot worse. Thanks for the responses. Thanks for the pictures George. It looks like a fun truck to restore.

WOW! That's about 1/3 of what I would have guessed, and I'm often accused of being stuck in the 50's when it comes to prices.

I purchased the glass from the Kubota dealer and will have a glass company in town do the installation. I was surprised when the auto glass place said they charged only 40/hour. I was expecting a little more than that. So I am relieved it isn't as bad as I was expecting.

Yup, been there and was pleasantly surprised it wasn't to outrageous.

I ordered my windshield from the dealer and had a local auto glass guy install it. Made a deal with him that if I cleaned and prepped it all he'd have to do is the install. Worked well. I removed the hood, wiper etc and all he had to do was use his adhesive and stick her in place.
