I have a bobcat 773turbo with the kubota v2003t in it about 3800hrs oil changed on regular basis have used synthetic for the last 5 years

here lately my oil pressure light has been coming on so I installed a manual gauge and changed oil and filter this time i put in rotella 1540 a little heavy for this time of year but I needed a baseline

so it would start about 48psi and after 15min of run time it would be at 21psi where light would come on so i have been keeping an eye on it and gathering parts I had a head gasket set and I just bought a pan gasket and new oil pump made the bracket to pull engine

basically I was getting ready to pull engine last Wednesday i loaded up a load of 18 big 1500-1800 lbs bales to take to auction so I had some cash to rebuild the engine and when I started it I noticed the pressure was at 65 cold so I loaded it and when going back to shed i noticed at full throttle it was at 50 psi after 20 minutes of hard running so at idle it was 32 so I ran it around for an hour moving snow and doing some other stuff and it was fine

so yesterday I started it up again moved some wood and other stuff and it is working great 50 psi warm and 32 and about 50 full throttle seems to be fixed but my concern is there was a reason that the oil pressure was not where it should be I think I am still going to pull it any ideas as to what it could be

hard to say. 3800 hrs is getting up there, but you've had it some time w/o issues. does it consume oil? hard to start in cold? bearing knock @ startup? where are you located for cold starts & engine oil choice? wise to monitor as you are doing, but might hesitate & monitor before you pull engine on an expensive rebuild. might also check min oil pressure idling specs for that engine warmed up compared to the "idiot light" sensor that comes on as you mention.... maybe just an oil sensor problem.... good move to post here. good luck!

It's just broke in at 3800. Expect 10K before rolling in inserts....

Kubota had / has an issue with that engine as well as mine in my M9 (VT series). I experienced an oil pressure light when under warranty. What it was is, right behind the harmonic dampener, there is a cast cover that removes. There are 2 spool valves inside with centering springs that control lube oil flow and running pressure. One of my spools had an internal burr that was hanging the shuttle spool and causing low oil pressure on an intermittent basis (to the point where the unit would shut down actually). My dealer replaced the entire assembly under warranty but I suspect you can use a cylinder hone or fine crocus cloth to smooth the bores and allow the spools to float / slide properly.

Higher viscosity oil won't help, you need to 'hone the bores a bit. That will eliminate the issue. I've always ran 5-40 Rotella T5. Not sure how hard access will be in a bobcat but on my M9, it was easily accessable from the underside of the tractor.

Have to say, thatis the only issue I ecer had with either unit and it was warranty and my dealer supplied a loaner for the time it was in the shop

agree, rotella t6 (5/40 syn) is a good choice. believe R T5 is 15/40 (blend?) but i might be mistaken. best of luck

You are right, it's T6. Blue Jug, Menards is the cheapest by far. Gets extra use here. Drain the tractors for the lawnmowers and left over goes to the waste oil furnace.

that sounds like a good place to look have to get the manual out and start looking on this you have to pull the whole engine I am going to do the head gasket as long as it is on the stand
