G'day from Australia. I have a Kubota B6000 and I'm trying to replace the front "lug" (Bridgestone agr-12 5-12) type tyres with a "turf Tyre' can anyone help with advice.....what will fit?, do I need to change the wheels? Steve

I do not know what kind of tire to use, but make sure that you replace the set (all 4 tires). All 4wd vehicles have a lead-lag ratio (the amount the front tires pull vs. the rear tires). If you change the rolling circum. of a tire (ie the diameter) then you chage the lead-lag ration and the front will either pull too much or too little. Either was is very bad and will cause severe damage to your front axle, drive line, and excellerate tire wear. I know that this did not answer your question directly, but I hope it helps a little.

Good luck with that. Do you already have rear turf tires? I have a 1980 B7100 with turf tires on the ag-tire sized rims. The 8-16 rears are no longer available. The only 8-16 tires that I could find are ag tires. A 235/85R16 light truck tire is about the right size.

So, I found a decent deal on a new, surplus pair of 29x12.5-15 turf tires and wheels (pulls from a B7300 that switched to ags), and then ran into issues finding wheels & tires to match for the front -- keep in mind that the 29" dia. turf tires are smaller in dia. than the ag-sized tires, so I needed to change the front sto match due to 4WD. If your B6000 is 4WD, then it is critical to match the size ratio.

Here are some threads about dealing with these issues on the B7100:

Kubota wants $186 ea. for 20.5x8-10 turf tires. Firestone used to make a 21x8-10 "field & turf" tire, which is actually 20.5" in dia., that sold for about $90 ea., but they have been NLA for about a year.

It turns out that 20.5x8-10 is a common trailer tire size. I ended up finding a trailer tire that size with a decent tread pattern on it.

So, the long, and the short of it, you may need to do a little hunting to find what you need. If you have 4WD, and do change sizes, you'll need to change all four, and keep the size-ratio the same.

For example, on my B7100, the turf tires and 29 and 20.5 inches in dia. If you take 29/20.5, you get 1.41. If I go to, say a 31" rear tire, then I need to take 31 / 1.41 to get 21.91, or a 22" front tire.

Good luck, and let us know how you make out.

Thanks mate for the good advice, I've decided to "bite the bullet" and called a pro who's going to make me new rims, adapting the rear rims to fit the front (so as I can use the new turf tyres that I bought) and make new rims and fit new tyres for the back calibrated to give the correct ratio between front and back.

OK, I'm confused. You're going to use your rear wheels on the front !?!?!?

There is quite a bit of size difference there mate!

Scrapped the last idea, added spacers to the rear wheels and bolted on a second wheel on each side, thus keeping the same ratio between front and back. cost a bit but solved the problem.Steve

That looks seriously cool! I'm used to seeing the large ag tractors with dual rears, but not smaller ones. I'll bet that make it real stable on slopes. I also bet you'll never loose traction :D
