Kubota transmission fluid

It's time to change the transmission fluid on a Kubota M9540. I went by the Kubota place and it is $20 bucks a gal. $99 per 5 gal. Has anyone found a replacement for the Super UDT fluid?

I'm pretty sure others here have went that route and went back the way they came soon after. It depends on if it's a hydro shuttle or not though.

If it has hydraulic clutch packs, GST shifting or a Hydro in it, that fluid will give most people less then satisfactory performance.

I'd find another Kubota dealer. I just changed hyd oil in my M7040 and the Kubota UDT was $77 per 5 gallons. It never ceases to amaze me that crude oil is down from it's high price to around $50 per barrel but engine/hyd oil is still plenty high $$$$$$$

When we serviced our M9540, I talked to my dealer and shop foreman and was told for our area SUDT is not necessary in these tractors and to use UDT or equivalent. We can't tell any difference in ours with either. Debates on fluids will never end and often become acrimonious, so I am only passing along our experience.

Realize it's expensive but how often do you change it? 600 hrs? And how much did the machine cost?

I use NAPA 85-405. Specs are the same. 1500 hrs and can see no difference. Ask for the fleet price, amazing!

For what these machines cost why would you want to cheap out on hydraulic fluid ? Use what your owners manual recommends .
