I use an older G1900 4ws to cut my approx. 2 acres. I have also used it to cut down my new 3 acre pasture (initial cut).

- You can't beat the power of the 18 hp deisel engine. It can cut through anything as long as you dont run headlong into high grass at full speed.

- The 4ws works really well, allowing for a turning radius of a couple of feet

- The decks are heavy duty, and heavy period. Removing them and reinstalling them is a small challenge, but doable.

- The thing is really good on fuel. I can cut about and acre a gallon, maybe a bit more, and this includes lots of running around trees and beds et al.

- I did have to replace the main drive shaft (at 1150 hrs) as the sealed grease fittings on the U joints had failed.

I have a G2460G with 54" deck and 50" snowblower. It has been very reliable so far with about 285 hours on it. I wish it was 4WD and a cup holder would have been nice. For the last year or so it sputters when you hit big bumps and I can smell raw gas. I can't afford to be without it so I haven't taken it to the shop yet. I've tried dry gas and the seat switch so it is neither of those things. I'm within months of getting one of the new B2x20 or my ultimate dream the B3030 cab. I'll probably keep the G series for mowing duties no matter what I buy.

I work at a Kubota dealership, I like the diesel versions of thier garden tractors. The gassers are ok, seem to see more issues with the liquid cooled vertical crank ones though. Valves sticking from gas going skunk ect. I would look for either one of the older G4200, G5200, G6200 tractors, or the G1900 or G2000 tractors. I have owned a G4200, loved it, A B7100 that was nice but to large for my needs. Right now I have a Cub Cadet 782D that has a Kubota diesel engine in it right from the factory. Most of the mower decks on the G series are shaft driven, while the T and some of the TG are belt driven from the engines PTO. Cheers Mike

thanks for the feedback. For the price of a Diesel G or GR I think I'm probably back looking at BX's.

Now U C why I got The BX 1500!
The JD Garden tractor Tractors couldn't do it for me for the money and nether could the Kubota Garden tractors.

Yea. That Kawaski engine is problematic over time, and really expensive to work on. Reguardless of what you buy, I'd avoid that engine. They are out of the Kubota lineup at this point, but Deere has always used them heavily.
