I am looking for someone that uses a RTV1100 for plowing snow. How well does it move snow? I have a RTV1100 and am thinking of putting a snowplow on it. I am concerned that the vehicle may be to small and to light to be real effective. I don't want to spend the money and find out it doesn't work well. Thinking I might be better investing in a larger compact diesel tractor for my snow removal? Anyone with experience or opinions please respond. Thanks

I don't know where you live or what kind of snow you get but it is tough to get a better machine to plow with for comfort.

I used one after about a 8" snow fall in two wheel drive with no weight in the box and had no trouble at all with a 78" blade.

I've got an 1100 with a 72" plow...Does great as long as you don't let 2 feet fall before you begin plowing...I've done 8+ inches and had no problems whatsoever.

The plow is a little light, but the machine has plenty of power...I run ATV tires, so that might help me in the traction department over worksites.

I've got a 2008 RTV1100 that I have been using for 3 years on my driveway and my neighbors driveways and have never had a problem. If the snow gets too high at the driveway entrance,3 ft, I just angle the plow and move it a slice at a time. I'm using the worksite tires with no chains and have no problem with traction.
The biggest problem I have is that it gets too hot in the cab and I keep having to turn the heat down.

Randy, thanks for your response it is encouraging. Having the cab get to hot, I can deal with that. I have been plowing with a small open cab tractor and freezing my you know what off.

I have plowed commercial in RTV 900 and 1100's. The RTV 1100 is a great machine for plowing. It will push a good amount of snow in the comfort of a cab. However it is not a deep snow machine. If you regularly get 8"+ snowfalls you need a blower not a blade. I think that worksite tires are great on pavement however for gravel drives ATV tires offer more traction. In my experience I rarely had any problems with a lack of weight being a problem. However on heavy snowfalls I always had a spreader in the back. The width of the machine is the biggest hindrance. The factory hydraulic/electric plow has a bit of a learning curve. I would not put a light weight winch actuated plow on a heavy machine like an rtv. The kubota/curtis plows are built very heavy and can really take a beating. If you would want a heavy duty plow look at a Kanlan.

We use an RTV1100 with a Boss utility plow and it works well. The only downside is we get a lot of snow and as everyone else said..it wont push the deep stuff. We plow off a football field of artificial turf so players can practice even in the winter, and by the time you get to the edge of the field there are windrows much taller then the plow blade. Last year was our first year with the unit and we found it hard to shift when pushing piles back, and at one point last winter we blew the transmission/rear differential while pushing back large amounts of snow. In our case, a loader would have been necessary, but we do not have one yet. I was told by the Kubota dealer we broke the rear end gears because of an issue with the locking rear diff. it blew a hole in the side of the trans when it went. Otherwise it's been a good machine. Just still hard to shift and hard to get into and out of 4wd at times.

Mine plows well I just have the Curtis plow which is pretty lightweight! No problem plowing, shifting another story.Pushing snow up in piles when you go up to the bank hard to shift for sure.I usually put foot on brake for a few seconds at idle and it will go in neutral then you can shift it.Plows great, shifting you have to be patient. The warmer the trans gets the better it shifts.

Have no experience with the RTV1100 but I sometimes use my John Deere Gator HPX with a front blade. It's AMAZING how well this thing works. I plowed, with ease through a 2.5 foot snow. Works better than my compact.
