I'm considering purchasing the above RTV. I would like to attach a hydraulic dump cart which has a 24" piston.
One dealer says no problem. It will need a step-up fitting to mate with the difference in hose size. They say it will take longer to dump due to the RTV's smaller hydraulic pump than my L39 has. I know, quite a bit longer. About 15 seconds vs 5 seconds.
Another dealer says it should not be done due to the small hydraulic fluid capacity of the RTV. "It will burn the pump out due to loss of fluid."

Assuming the hydraulic dump piston is fully primed with fluid why would the volume of RTV hydraulic fluid matter? It's really a closed system to my mind.

It appears one dealer has no clue about hydraulic systems. It is a closed system so after the initial charge of the hoses the level will be ok. My 1120 dumps the bed really fast, almost to fast. I think you will be fine

I have the same unit you are thinking about getting. If I'm right ( and I'm not sure I am ) the hydro unit for the dump body and the dump bed on mine are one in the same. In other words they share 1 pump. This means that if I were moving forward and tried to dump as I'm moving, the dump may go up a little slower because the machine itself is using fluid at that time. If I'm parked and wanted to dump a trailer being towed behind me..I don't think it would be a problem. You just need to figure out the open center closed center valve situation.

A hydraulic piston has 2 halves. One side has more capacity than the other because the rod is taking up volume. So at a minimum the reservoir needs to be able to swing the capacity of that rod. It's even worse on that front if it's a single acting prison (gravity down) as it's the entire cylinder volume.

Probably not an issue, but could be depending on capacity. My power tilt deckover has the same fundamental issue, but the 1 gallonish reservoir seems to be plenty. 2 double acting pistons, maybe 2" with a 15-20" stroke.

The 1120x that I have has a huge hydraulic reservoir. I'm not sure of exact amount but it's around 3 gallons I think

Doubt you'll have a problem but with two dealers telling two different stories I can see the concern. 1 were you talking to the master mechanic at each dealership or a sales person? 2 As them to give you the phone number of the Kubota service rep for their dealership and ask the Kubota service rep and that person will know for a fact with no guessing or speculation. If for some reason they won't give you the phone number then send your question to Kubota Corp and they will send you their number and or an answer. I emailed Kubota Corp years ago with a question about timing for changing the hyd fluid since it kept changing over the years and TBN members were posting different timing (hours) of when to change it. Got a very plain answer back from Kubota which was follow the owners manual for the machine and that some TBN members didn't know what they were talking about. :)
